naturally or enhanced....her conditioning was unreal. and that is where i am divided. as i LOVE female bbers, but do we need them to come in with such low body fat levels? striations in her glutes, super impressive. but in the long run, her health will suffer. and i am saddened by the choices some athletes make to reach that level.

In the second photo at the HW awards presentation she's not even flexing, and yet her physique is also tremendously impressive there.
By the way extra points for any Sioux-folk who can tell what that fellow (Gary Bartlett?) crouching next to the champ is doing. Some possibilities: 1) sweeping the stage floor 2) performing a magic trick 3) dancing under the limbo stick 4) having difficulty lifting that copy of MuscleMag 5) carefully placing an umbrella on the stage
It should be pointed out that R. Bello is a veteran competitor, even competing previously as a professional several years ago at the IFBB Jan Tana Pro Classic. Scott, your memory/instincts were right on target.

I was the one who recognized Rita Bello. Here is a pic of her courtesy of Genex Hwang FTVIDEO.COM

Absolutely Ibarr. Good on you for giving everybody the early heads-up about Rita Bello's status as a long-time competitor. You know your women's bodybuilding.
Since Scott was trying to place her as a pro at the expo I thought he (and anybody else with an interest) might like to know she was in fact an IFBB pro at one time.
Thanks for the clarification on the award presenter's slightly awkward photo. I wasn't looking for the real explanation though, just some creatively absurd suggestions and the more ridiculous the better.

Why would health suffer? we aren't talking about living at that bodyfat.
I am going for striated glutes

i wasn't referring to living with below levels of essential body fat. but the agents used to help achieve these looks take a toll on the health of the users.

go for striated glutes. i want them as well and may get brave enough to compete with them in figure. whether i place well or not. i just want to say i did it and i know it can be achieved naturally.

But even still w/ AAS, Rita had to put in the work w/ the diet, training, and cardio. It's not like she was able to slack off just b/c she was using. I just hate that some ppl assume that ppl can take things and magically get in shape....as if they don't work as hard. Cyd, not saying you specifically, just ppl in general thinking that.

Rita's conditioning is phenomenal, and her development is definitely mature. Before turning pro, there were a few photos of her in a WPW issue from the mid-90s. She's always had excellent detail in her physique and the conditioning she achieves obviously highlights that. No doubt it's hard work to consistently get to that BF level and maintain muscularity, but I do wish she competed more often and got more exposure.
 Three cheers for striated glutes!

not implying she didn't have to work her butt, with steroid use, you still have to rock it in the gym. and it is medically known that steroids will cause medical problems. what we don't know for females is the impact on our bones that even short periods of extremely low body fat levels will do. and for white females who are already considered high risk for developing osteoporosis, i wouldn't risk it. even with the weight bearing exercises, etc. white females are still at a higher risk. and bodybuilding females have not been studied over the long term to see how their bones look when they become post-menopausal. you guys are not the interest of big pharma to study.
