Female bodybuilder arrested in Bonita Springs prostitution bust

A well-known female bodybuilder was busted for prostitution in Bonita Springs Wednesday night, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

Rhonda Lee Quaresma, 42, of Toronto is a member of the International Federation Bodybuilders and won the overall Canadian Championships, according to bodybuilding.com.

The website also said her “combination of sexy, beautiful, sculpted yet feminine muscles have often deemed her "the world's sexiest bodybuilder.”

But on March 8, when Lee County investigators were preparing for another sting operation, Quaresma was known as Miss Sparkle on a website advertising her services.

Detectives set up a meeting with Quaresma at a Bonita Beach Road hotel and agreed to pay her $280 for one hour.

According to the arrest report, the detective met Quaresma at the hotel and remarked that she was the same woman from the ad on the website. The detective said sometimes those ads can be deceiving.

Quaresma, who was wearing pink lingerie, told the detective to leave the “donation” on the table. The detective did as directed.

The detective then gave other investigators listening in the take down order and placed Quaresma under arrest.

Rhonda turned pro in 1995 at the Canadian Nationals. She last competed at the 2003 IFBB Night Of Champions.

Couple of questions:

1. Why is prostitution illegal?

2. What harm does it do?

Im not really for or against. But i really cannot understand why there is a law preventing people making a profit when in my opinion no crime has been committed.

I am sure there will be reasons against it, im really curious as to what reasons are given.

It's not a line of work I would choose for myself, but I also think it's BS that prostitution isn't legal. People working in the sex trade should pay taxes and deserve some protection from laws/policies that afford them some freedom from all sorts of exploitation.

Nevada has it right.

I have to be honest. When I first saw the thread, Laruen Powers was the name I expected to see.

You can't pay someone to have sex WITH you but you can pay to watch other people have sex (porn)...seems completely weird to me.

OMG! i was getting dressed for work this am and Ryan turned on the t.v. and there was a female bodybuilder training for the excalibur, she placed 5th then sure enough the show cut to LAURIE POWERS who is now doing ballroom dancing...WHAT!?!?! maybe she finally realized she looks terrible as a "bodybuilder" and should find something else to do.

It's about keeping people safe. Aside from being safe it could potentially be costly.... let's say said prostitute is on welfare and contracts AIDS or gives someone AIDS... first of all who is paying the prostitutes medical bills? What happens when she gives AIDS to someone else... it would lead to some sort of retaliation legally, physically, etc...

I certainly don't want to pay the skanks medical bills.

I don't get the comments. Are you for or against legalization? If her job were legal, the prostitute on welfare wouldn't be on welfare, she'd be collecting unemployment or long-term disability from the program that SHE paid into and perhaps she'd have some extended healthcare coverage helping offset medical bills. Plus she'd likely not contract aids in the first place because she, her coworkers, and the johns would be subject to mandatory STD tests/screening.

Are the ladies giving it up for free regularly at your average nightclub also skanks? How many of them are on welfare, and, if so, do you feel the same way about paying their medical bills when they contract an STD?

Btw, I am no fan of Lauren Powers. Her passion is bodybuilding and yes maybe she makes a trade from her body. She isn't hurting anybody and she should be free to work her trade like so many others in the same industrie

The only difference is she is vilivied. Simply because she is not attractive or put bluntly she is ugly. So basically what i am saying is, the woman is dealt a harsh blow in life and that is not enough. Don't people grow up? or better yet didn't you learn that if you have nothing nice to say about someone then maybe you shouldn't say anything.
This sort of behaviour or "bullying" should be left to adolescent kids who don't know better.

Imagine anyone new to the site who read these comments. Imagine they come here for inspiration and were willing to post progress photos but now may have second thoughts for fear of copping harsh critisism for not being blessed a goddess.
