FEMALE BODYBUILDERS by Martin Schoeller
Have you ladies seen this book by Martin Schoeller? Female Bodybuilders features portraits of women such as Kristy Hawkins and (my favorite) Lenda Murray. There is also a stunning picture of Dayana Cadeau. The book is REALLY beautiful. The portraits are simple and clear, the women look phenomenal, alluring, strong, and most notably, unquestionably feminine. Schoeller did a great job of presenting FBBs as the amazing women they are, minus the freakshow aspect that a lot of documentary photographers and filmmakers throw in there.
I am including some images from the book, and also a review, which I found insulting and somewhat infuriating. The review states, "To achieve perfection they must follow a dangerous regimen of performance enhancing drugs. There are risks involved to achieve that perfect look and form. Unlike other sports, and this is speculation on my part, there does not appear to be rigid drug testing for participants. Which would be the case, for example, if this was an official sport in the Olympics." He goes on to say, "In the process of creating the perfect body there is no performance aspect as is the case in other sports."
This reviewer seems to think that drugs alone will get someone the perfect body, which we all know is not the case. Drugs or no drugs, hard work, dedication, and heart created these bodies. The lifestyle, time, and mindset required to pursue bodybuilding is the hard part, and that's what separates FBBs from the average lazy a$shole in the mall. Ugh.
By the end, reviewer Charles Giuliano seems to have come around, stating, "These women are proud of who they are and have worked hard to get there. Surely they appreciate that Schoeller has provided us with the best possible glimpse into their world. It has made me, for one, work harder to understand their extreme sport and its complex range of physical and psychological demands." Even this annoyed me, however, because no one would put themselves through any of the hard work if the primary satisfaction was to be presented from the bust up in a portrait book. So appreciative, yes, but no book will ever be the "best possible glimpse" into this world.
REVIEW OF FEMALE BODYBUILDERS
Anyway, crappy review aside, the book is a real piece of art. Here are some images. Check it out...

Christine Roth...
Isn't the last pic of Christine Roth?
I always thought she was on of the best examples of FBB looking feminine and sexy. She was a Juggy on The Man Show a few years back. I don't think you ever see her too much.

Yes it is. Christine Roth is one of my all time favorites. I think she retired. I liked how she developed her delts in her last 2 years of competing. A year after that, she lost a great deal of size. I will post pics at a later on. I think there are a few threads pertaining to FEMALE BODYBUILDERS by Martin Schoeller.

Those are great. Didn't he also do a exhibition out in the West Coast? It would be great if he did one in NYC.

You know, I actually don't know, but I think the book just came out this September, so probably not too long ago. I think Vicki is in this book too...(?) Maybe she could give us some insight on when her photo was taken...

Yeah, Dayana looks really...I don't know. Really DAYANA. Her features, both above and below the neck, are strong. I am stopped in my tracks just about any time I see a picture of her.
