I was just browsing throught the training journal threads and i see that A LOT of you other gals have scoliosis!!

SOO DOOO IIII!!!!!!!!!!! I have been to a specialist and he said its not horrible and that i just have to deal with it!

I thought I was like the ONLY one-- who has uneven shoulders when posing, and my muscle development is slightly different from the left and right sides of my body.. (my right side seems bigger-- shoulders and lats)

So what is this Hippo thing??

I was told when I had my first baby and getting my epidural that I had mild scoliosis. I didn't think much about it till NOW. You girls are talking about how one shoulder sits higher than the other? Dang! I thought my right shoulder hung lower because I use to ALWAYS hang my purse on that shoulder. LOL! But come to find out....it's because of the scoliosis! I gotta tell Cam! Sheesh...I never knew that!

It's frustrating! Everytime we pose, my right shoulder hangs and Cam tells me "shoulder". It seems like I have to really exaggerate my right shoulder to make it even with the left.

carrying a purse or backpack will also cause an imbalance :o

i not only have uneven shoulders but mine also round forward which makes posing a b$#&h

I have it too!

I was diagnosed w/ it in like 6th grade, and I've always had problems with my neck and shoulders mostly.

Recently, my left side has become rediculously painful! It's weird because it doesn't really bother me while I"m training, but it's horrible when I have to sit at a desk for an extended period of time....like now

I found an awsome chiropractor and went to him for the first time last week. He pinpointed the problem to my ribcage and core, so we're working on making that more stable.....a lot of which is controlled by breathing. I'm also switching the side I carry my bag/purse on, and let me tell you, it's like trying to write with the other hand!

He did tell me that most of the population does have scoliosis in some shape or form. Hardly anyone has a perfectly straight spine.

I have it and my posing is all kinds of crooked if I don't practice! Plus one arm/shoulder is developed differently. Mine actually originates from my hips I have one leg thats shorter than the other :o ... I use to wear lifts in my shoes but the last few years have not... I actually was asking Dave P about leg development and he suggested custom made inserts for your shoes says it can help tremendously... I need to look into those.

Wow, I have it too!! I first found out in highschool when I was doing my annual physical for sports...weird. I never thought anything about but since I started training I've always had ailments with my back. My upper right lat area is CONSTANTLY tight. I can't stand it. It drives me nuts cuz I'm always digging my back into the corner of my chair or table or anything with a point to relax it lol My bf is also constantly telling me about my shoulders because when I pose..one is ALWAYS higher than the other LOL Nice to see I have company here lol

VANESS-- where are you?!??! :o

I want to hear about this Hippo thing! LoL

Yo.

I was diagnosed with congenital scoliosis as a child and slept with a brace. I spent lots of time with chiropractors, and I still remember being a little girl and having my curve measured with a protractor while touching my toes. We remember the oddest things.

Anyway, that's my little trick to remember to compensate while posing - just pretending I have a hippo on my shoulder. :D

I tried the hippo thing, i helps, you put it on your higer shoulder right?

Do you remember the degree of curve you started with, and did the brace help? Did the Doc ever threaten you with herrington's rods?

OMG... I so strugge with this. Especially in my posing. I am so paranoid by it that it messes with my head and I seem to overcompensate. The other times I struggle with my front pose because if I flair too much to get a better lat spread, one implant jumps up so frickin high I look ridiculous!

Wow...interesting..I've never been dx w/ scoliosis but I was once told by a chiropractor that one of my legs were slightly longer than the other. I to have one side that sits higher than the other and I really notice it more from the front pose than from the rear. My right shoulder and right knee appear slightly higher.

I've got scoliosis too. I remember wearing a horrid plastic body brace in middle school. I was so grateful when it became soft and misshappen due to the El Paso heat. It's quite common in the population and I noticed a lot of girls had imbalances while looking at pics from Jr U's. I'm still trying to find ways to work with it onstage. I always look funny from the front, especially in my waist area.

I wonder if scoliosis is more prominent in women than men. I don't think I have ever noticed it is pics of men bb's.
