Hi all, I've decided to come to Florida for the Nationals. If you'd like to book a photo shoot, contact me at weiferdwatts@gmail.com. I'm charging $175 for a session. You'll get a CD of the images within two weeks of the shoot, or if you prefer to get the images sooner, you can bring a Laptop or portable hard drive and I'll upload the images after the shoot. See you there.

That's funny that you are charging women to shoot them, most of the photographers pay us to let them shoot us for their sites!

I disagree. The photographers who pay you are typically running membership sites. If you want images for a portfolio or your own web site, more often then not paying for images will result in better images.

"Let them shoot us" - Now that's funny.

I charge for my shoots as well.

Like Issac said.... They guys who pay you to shoot are using your images to profit. So it is a fair deal for both of you. ( As long a they agree to give you images, which they are not obligated to do if they pay! ) If not you are simply a paid model ....
When you shoot with people who charge, you have the advantage of controlling your image... If you have your own pay site or just wish for as many hits as possible, then people will have to go to your site to see your photos. If your shots are already out there for people to see on the pay sites, then there is less incentive for people to go to your site...In my opinion making your image and your website less valuable...
If you don't really care either way, then by all means you should work with the guys who pay as long as you are happy with the images you get....I would take the money too...
I charge as well and every photo you get from me will be corrected ect.. in order to achieve the best results...This requires a lot of post production time as well.... So it is really up to the individual to decide the best path to take when looking to shoot...

Maybe we will get to work some day... :)

Weiferd does amazing work and is worth paying for and there are other photogs that are also worth their fee! These guys have to make a living, too. I don't mind paying for good photos. Nothing really comes for free! Although competing can strap you financially, $175 for a shoot and cd of photos, is very reasonable. I have seen others charge $1000+ for shoots.

Hey guys thanks for your input!

Question!

To the photographers only who are getting paid by the model, what rights are you giving them the model? So you are telling me that you are giving up all copyright to? That you are retaining no rights for yourselves?

Theresa Hendricks:rofl:

It all depends on your agreement with the photographer.... If you pay me, they are your photos... Most photographers reserve the right to use the images to promote their business, but not to sell if that is the agreement... You need to discuss with the photographer and put it in the release...Some photographers will have you pay and sell your pics....It's probably in their release.... If you and the photographer are up front, there should be no problems...

I see you're charging to hold a "photo boot camp". Are you the photographer as well? It's interesting that you are charging people for a boot camp that claims to get them noticed and advance in the sport but take issue with those charging models.

Hi Ned

You are a true professional in the way you are responding to my inquires! I truly appreciate that. Yes you are right in your answer above, I am a professional photographer myself and I no what the answers should be before anyone responds to them, and you are on target!

The reason why I was blown away  when I read that a photographer was charging the model in the first place was because ever since I started competing in 2005 I have only known photographers on the circuit that pay us to use the pictures on membership web sites. Then you have the photographers who don't pay us, but yet they want all the rights to do with the pictures as they please! So that is why I responded the way I did, I simply did not truly no that there were photographers out there offering their services and wanting to get paid for them. Must respect to you and others!

Thank You
Theresa Hendricks

Hi Lift Studios

Please read my response above to Ned, I am not taking an up issue with you or anyone else for charging a model! So don't take this as a personal attack towards you or anyone else.

Reflexavision is a weekend workshop here to help better sever you the photographer / photographers and to better educate the sports model in providing them the fundamental tools in which to better educate themselves in marketing, images rights, copyrights, publicity rights and in negotiating contracts with photographers and teaching them how to pose much more fluently and professionally in front of the camera. It is so much more than me just charging to take their pictures; it is a weekend educational seminar.

Reflexavision never promises to make anyone a super star!

Knowledge is a very powerful tool anyone can advance with it

Sorry but that makes no sense. You claim to be a "professional photographer" and go fishing for answers related to rights, when in reality you were looking to set someone up with their response. You then go on to claim not to know there were photographers charging for their services.

As some one who is holding a workshop to "educate the sports model" it would be in your best interest to at least know the industry and what you're charging to "educate the sports model" on. I feel as though you're doing attendees a disservice if you, yourself are not educated on what you're charging for.

I guess how one deems themselves a "professional" is different for all.

I DON'T have a bodybuilding/fitness website, nor do I work for anyone who has one. What I do is very good work and you will find quite a few women from this site who've paid for my services and will attest to it. Since you would be paying for the shoot, you get the right to use the photos in any way you please. I would use the photos only for self promotion, wether it be for my portfolio, posting on social networking sites like Facebook, or posting on Fitness forums like Sioux Country or Bodyspace. The advantage of hiring someone to take your photos is getting the high resolution images without someone's logo on them and being able to make poster size prints to cover your walls. If you saw where someone was advertising to do family portraits, do you think they would do it for free because you look great doing a front double biceps pose?
