I am anxious to see how they schedule the shows next year. For those of us who will have to requalify for National level shows, will they put more NQs earlier in the year?

BTW can someone refresh my memory...I qualified in 2008, am I good to go for 2010 or do I need to requalify???

If you qualified in 2008, I believe you are qualified for 2 years from that date, not calendar year.

This is so confusing..someone just asked me the same question. I thought I read (think it was on here somewhere) that it was calendar. If you qual'd in 2008 you were eligible for Nat'l shows the remainder of 2008 as well as all of 2009 and 2010.

I do know the 1st show on the NC calendar which is the Metrolina has been cancelled for 2010. Then there's the NC State Show which is in April, usually the 3rd weekend (scheduled 3-4 weeks out from Jr.U so depends on the Jr. U date). Following that show is the Wilmington Classic which is in May (can't remember the weekend). This year(2009) the Mountaineer & Carolina Clash (Roger Morrison-promoter) has been cancelled so I'm assuming they will be again in 2010. That leaves Quincy Roberts show which is either the 1st or 2nd weekend in November (another show that depends on the date of Nats - it's always 3 weeks prior to Nats).

Beginning in 2008, eligibility is reduced to one year for National contests with the exception of the Nationals and USA Championships that have two (2) years of eligibility.

Don't you mean 2009...they voted on the change in Nov. 2008.

This is what Isaac wrote on 11/20/08 in reference to the Nat'l meeting held last year in Atlanta. Still not very specific as year to the date of the show or calendar year. I'll keep search on this board...I believe it was either Cameron/Tracy Bodner or maybe Isabelle who said if you qual'd in 2007 or 2008 you were still eligible for the 2 years. The new rule change only applies for competitors who qualify in 2009.

The NPC Board of Governors’ Meeting took place a couple hours ago at the host hotel. A number of items were discussed amongst the NPC district chairmen/women and others involved in the NPC. I attended the meeting and can confirm the following updates and modifcations.

• There will be a NPC bikini division starting in 2009. There will be a pro bikini division that will begin in 2010. If you do well in figure you won’t do well in bikini. They will be looking for two different looks. There will be no capped delts awarded in the bikini division. You will not be allowed to compete in figure and bikini at the same show. The bikini division will be added to National level shows with Pro cards awarded. There are a number of rules and regulations that have been set and I will provide more of these details later.

• The one piece in fitness and figure has been eliminated in NPC contests on all levels.

• NPC qualifications will change - instead of two it will drop to one year. There are a number of details on this but starting in 2009 if you qualify for a National level show it will be for ONE year instead of TWO. This is for all national qualifications. Fitness, Figure, Bodybuilding and soon Bikini.

• There will be another IFBB Pro card added for the female bodybuilders in 2009. The 2009 NPC USA contest will now award two pro cards to the female bodybuilders. The overall and the runner-up will both receive IFBB pro card eligibility. This will now match what the men receive at this contest.

• NPC JR USAs will be held in Charleston, SC and the new date for this contest is May 23, 2009. This event is also slated to have the first NPC National level bikini division. More information on this contest to come. Tres Bennett does a tremendous job and is a great show for the women to get involved on the national level.

Thanks Ken. So it seems like I'm good to go for 2010. That's a relief...as if a wedding isn't stressful enough, then worrying about doing a qualifier on top of it. SHEESH!

No worries!! You can do any local/regional NPC show. However, you do have to qualify for the National level NPC shows.
