I'm no historian, but this must be the biggest NPC show ever. Will Team U beat this number, or maybe Nationals?

Increased numbers at NPC competitions around the country seems to be the trend this year. One thing though, are there 100 bikini competitors in the show? :)
I hope there is plenty of water and the means to stay hydrated for those having to wait a long time to go on stage. We don't want anyone hauled to the hospital from dehydration!
As I wrote at www.AmericanBodyPlus.com this morning:
467 Competitors Compete At USA's in Vegas!
Four hundred and sixty seven competitors are set to compete at the NPC USAs in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 17-18. That is more than one hundred competitors as compared to last year converging on Vegas. This has been a consistent theme throughout the 2009 calendar season where bodybuilding, fitness, figure, and bikini competitors have demonstrated that a bad economy won't keep them away. In fact, maybe this is an example of the tough people shining in difficult times. Certainly it is a testament to the competence of the NPC leadership in being able to generate increased interest in participating in shows such as the USAs. We here at American Body Plus wish all the athletes the best where competing in Vegas and elsewhere at shows around the country such as approximately one hundred athletes at the Space Coast Classic in Melbourne, Florida. As Vegas can be sweltering this time of year and the numbers of athletes backstage are way up please use precautions athletes. Make sure you have extra water on hand in your gym bag and although such will be provided at the show promotion please take care to prepare yourself and not expect others to do it for you and and have a great show.
Be sure to keep up to date with the latest NPC USA's show coverage as it happens at:

What are the totals for men, fbb, Figure, bikini.
On MD they don't have all the pictures up fro the weigh ins. For the men so far I counted 87 on thier site and 15 for the fbb. I think a lot of our numbers will come from figure and the new bikini division.

Isaac wrote last night that 83 women are competing in Bikini. If Bikini continues to grow, will we see 500+ competitors in 2010?
About 1 in 14 chance to turn pro in bikini this weekend.

It seems obvious based on the twit that bikini is adding to the success of the NPC shows making them more viable and considering the high quality of competitors competing is proving to be a great decision by Mr. Manion and the NPC Board of Governors.
With this many competitors I hope everyone will do their utmost to be considerate of one another in tight quarters and hot conditions. There are so many wonderful athletes that have so much to share. I'm sure many new friendships will be made this weekend, old friendships renewed and may this show be one more opportunity to demonstrate the strength and viability of the NPC as the powerhouse that it is in the physique sports.

For marketing sakes the NPC should use this to their advantage but yeah the judges are going to have a hard time with that many people.

My thoughts exactly, as in speaking with Ed Pariso early it seems the numbers are not very good:mad:

My thoughts exactly, as in speaking with Ed Pariso early it seems the numbers are not very good:mad:I was at the check-in last night and the entry list shows 46 contestants to weigh-in. many were waiting until this morning. 46 female bodybuilders is a number at the NPC USA that has been reasonably consistent over the past several years.
As for Ed Pariso stating that the numbers for WBB isn't very good...... it almost sounds like wishful thinking on his part.

Ten percent of the overall field eh? So I guess aside from the 100 bikini competitors male bodybuilding or figure numbers went up while like you say fbb held its own. That is good. Those that turn pro will have four opportunities to compete on stage with the Pariso shows. Hopefully their numbers can be at least as sustainable as Atlantic City and Tampa. Maybe this will be too many shows for FBB? Anyway, looking forward to reading your coverage of the USAs Steve and we need you back on Siouxcountry Radio to share your knowledge:respect:

There are over 50 in each of the classes C and D!! I think close to 60. The taller classes are in the 20's, i believe. Only a couple hours to go. I'm just laying around and resting. Best of luck to all the SC girls. Gonna be a great day.

Sounds like it must have been a healthy event where no one was badly injured, fainted, or died thank goodness. Having that many competitors competing in sunny Vegas at once is a daunting affair to manage. Congratulations to the promoter, his staff, and the athletes that made this affair such a success:respect:
