I mentioned this crazy idea with sioux over the Easter holiday, and I'd thought I'd share it with you guys and gals out there.

There are so many reality shows, yet there's not one specifically for fans of female muscle. That's why I'm in the process of making a plan for a reality competition to feature beginning fitness/figure competitors. The winner (if it was up to me) would get am IFBB card and a Arnold invite.

Here's where I need your help. I would like your opinions on this. Would it be a good idea or not?

It's a tad vauge right now, but I'll be adding more of my ideas in the near future.

Thanks in advance! :awesome:

Keep in mind: this is just an idea. I'm not sure if this will come to life or not.

Maybe something like that could work if the winner got a sponsorship contact with a major brand.

OOOOOHHHHH yeah LIKE America's next TOP MODEL with MUSCLE! (Cardio - guilty pleasure) I agree a spread or sponsorship deal is more realistic than a pro card.

CQ!

I would love to see that...however IMO there is nowhere the interest, feasibility or financing available for it to be a TV production. One can only look at the tanking of the last planned American one, and I know of an international version which tanked as well. TV.. one is talking immense amounts of funding needed, and immense amounts of interest needed. There is not even enough interest to show the Arnold or Olympia on TV.

I think a "cyber version" could be feasible. Apart from the more reachable financial considerations, also one is then not restricted to battling for network coverage in each nation/state - and can cater to billions of interested people worldwide.

BB.com is also innovative with things like that, and with a large sponsor onboard it could be quite lucrative. Look at the $50,000 prize money bb.com is offering for their transition they have going on now. Debatable yes, and not everyone will agree...but for me personally, I'll take $50,000 over a pro card anyday:D

I'd be happy to see more muscle in some of the other reality shows first, as a start. A figure competitor made it to the last cut on the most recent "Big Brother" and it was almost as if it were a complete novelty ... the producers didn't seem to know anything about it. They kept calling her "muscle girl" as in "have the muscle girl step over to the kitchen area," etc. It was pretty funny. At least Wife Swap has included bodybuilders and competitors ocassionally ... not the most flattering of shows though ...

Now that BB.com has been sold to QVC / home shopping network maybe they will contribute to some of these types of projects .....

Are you talking about Natalie and Adria?

They sold a portion to Liberty Media which is a little different than selling to QVC, but yes LM does own QVC.

The reality type show was tried once with HARDBODY ENTERTAINMENT (no affiliation to hardbody.com) and it bombed. They did the ROAD TO THE PROS. It's also been broached about doing a figure/fitness reality show where women live in a house to get ready for a show. Other ideas have been kicked around for shows but here is the problem. Most figure and fitness competitors can't afford to be away for extended periods of times and if they aren't all paid - is the risk worth the reward. Most say no.

I'm not saying it's impossible though. A pro card being given away wouldn't happen. Sponsorship deal - doable.

I think that type of show would be great to see but then you'd have to ask "mainstream-wise", who's America's Fitness Star RIGHT NOW? A name like Arnold that is easily indentifyable (sp) with fitness to the general public. IMO, a show like this would have to branch off of someone related to fitness or BB like a Billy Blanks, Body by Jake, or even Arnold. To really appeal someone like Oprah would have to invest in a fitness figure and then branch off of her to have others down the road. Like what she's done with Rachel Ray and Dr. Phil.

I think there's something you're not realizing about TV reality shows. Survivor and others like it, take place over 30-45 days. A lot of girls would be able to free themselves up for that amount of time. The female competition would have to be simply about challenges, and not at all about improvements, because basically, there isnt enough time for them to make any gains whatsoever. If it was solely about tough challenges then, yes, it may work. You can bet your ass I'd watch 20 or so fitness girls going through an obstacle course, but that's just me. I say DO IT!

I love the way fitmomma put it- Americas Next Top Model but with muscle..... HOWEVER I think the general American public is a long way away from being interested in a show that features muscular women. Perhaps if it was fitness mjodels and figure competitors who were more "light" in their muscle mass....but tht would do nothing for bodybuilders. Overall, although the idea ROCKS and I'd tune in... I feel that America would not respond well enough to make the show worthwhile.

I would like to see a reality show with FBBs/Fit/Fig like the Real World in MTV.
Instead of like Survivor and Big Brother and most Reality contest shows. The premise of these shows is elimination. I don't mind seeing them do challenges or organized activity. Don't want to see them eliminated and go through cat fighting and backstabbing.
