I noticed in the Arnold Amateur thread the weight classes for women's bodybuilding are
Lightweight: up to and including 125 lbs
Middleweight: over 125 and up to 140 lbs
Heavyweight: over 140 lbs

but in Canada they are just ridiculous IMO, the last CBBF BB nationals heavy weight class was HUGE. Is there anything that we as compeititors can do to try and change the weight class numbers or maybe even add in a LHW? Athena what do you think the weight ranges were for the heavy weight class at your show was?

I'm pretty sure it was all over the map. I weighed 144 and then we had girls like Zoa who weighed in much heavier.

We're trying to make changes but they seem to be slow in coming, if they come at all. I wish I had the answer.

The USA's Team Universe has only three weight classes as well, so winners can go on to compete in the IFBB Women's World Championships.

our HW class is 126 and over i believe. we had girls that weighted 128 (at 5'3" or 5' 4") and girls like me that weighed 174 (at 5'10")

very hard to compare as it's liike apples and oranges. i wish at times it was like europe with height classes....but wait, i need to snap out of my daydream where everything makes sense. ;) don't get me started about making changes --- i already had a 'vent' yesterday LOL LOL

however i do think the judging at the canadian show is quite fair and makes sense in most cases. the judges do award symmetry and conditioning in a fairly consistent manner and are slightly more predictable than in some of the US shows.

Yes when I went to USA's a few years ago I noticed the US weight classes and was jealous. I weighted in at my last show at 131 I was aiming for middle but it just never happend and now I don't see myself ever being a middle weight as my boobs job added 4 lbs I am never losing. LOL I would love if we had a light heavy division like in the US one thing that drives me nuts is that there is no top end to heavy weigtht. I am only at the provincal level and many of the girls out size me. I am not sure if I have shot in hell at the national level where there is so many more girls. I wonder if they would ever bring the classic catagory for women like they did for the guys last year with the height to weight ratio.

just remember you don't win b/c you are the biggest girl on stage. you win because you have a balanced, symmetrical and shockingly 3D looking physique with all the muscles in the right places in perfect proportion. add to that you must be highly conditioned.
too many women focus on size and lose sight of the overall package.
the only reason i am 'large' is that i am tall so in order to give the appearance of balance i must add size on certain areas of my frame (which takes many years at my height) LOL
just come in your best and don't worry about weight...that is the best approach!
