Paul's shows are really well run...very organized and the athletes are treated very well...
Many athletes in my area have participated in Paul's show and have all come back with positive experiences....One of my athletes was selected to shoot with Oxygen Magazine...all stemming from the WBFF.

Our provincial chapter of CBBF has just announced that if you compete in non sanctioned IFBB events, you will be inelligible to compete in theirs. This is apparently a directive from IFBB meeting in spain or something. I'm not sure if Paul Dillet's federation counts. Can someone clear this up?

Here is what is posted on the MABBA (Manitoba) website:
"January 9, 2009
ATTENTION MABBA Competitors
To all MABBA Competitors, starting January 1st, 2009 the following directive from the CBBF will be followed, this does not involve previous years.
The Manitoba Bodybuilding Association (MABBA) is under the direction of the Canadian Bodybuilding Federation (CBBF) and will for that reason be following the directive agreed upon by the Presidents’ of the IFBB at the 2008 World Congress held in November.
During the World Congress, the President of the IFBB, Dr. Rafael Santonja spoke of the IFBB Federation taking action against competitive organizations. It was further discussed at meetings in Madrid, Spain.
The CBBF will now be requesting Provincial Associations to control there athlete’s involvement in competitive organizations, once they become Provincial Association Members.
If the athletic is a member of a Provincial Association and compete in a competitive organization they shall be stripped of any title attained while being a member of the Provincial Association and suspended from competing in future IFBB events, for a period of not less than 1 year.
From this point onward any Athlete who wishes to compete in any IFBB events, must be previously approved by the President of the CBBF. This was agreed upon at the World Congress and meetings following between the Presidents of the IFBB and Dr. Rafael Santonja."
They sure are cracking down again.

sorry to have taken this thread in another direction...but why is the IFBB so afraid of competition? I think it's great for the sport and gives the athletes the opportunity to hit the stage more often, which can only improve the overall quality of athletes!

Email I recieved from WBFF via Facebook today:
Changes to WBFF Figure Category!
Greetings folks and we're trusting everyone had a prosperous New Year! With the WBFF Vancouver Championships less than 3 months away, and in response to many requests, we've mutually agreed on some changes to the figure category.
As of the 2009 season, the WBFF figure division will consist of only 1 round, the two piece round. This accomplishes many concerns that have been addressed over our past two seasons. With the growing popularity of the figure division, our new policy will allow for more stage time given to the figure competitors and allow additional time backstage should you decide to compete in more than one category (i.e. fitness model). This will also save on the expense involved with the purchase of a 1 piece suit.
All other figure components and criteria will remain unchanged.
Once again, we wish everyone the best of luck at the WBFF Vancouver Championships and encourage everyone to get registered at:
http://register.wbffshows.com/
Once again, the Vancouver Championships will be a pro qualifying event for our first pro event taking place at the WBFF World Championships on September 19th in Mississauga, Ontario.

Ok.. I'm a little confused and a lot dismayed at what I just saw on the WBFF site. There is NO women's bodybuilding!!! WTF? Did I miss something? Can someone explain? Mr. Dillett is not so good at replying to messages or maybe he's picking and choosing what he wants to answer.

Ya I noticed that too. I guess they left out wbbing in order to target the younger beer drinking men lol But hey, if the figure girls are getting work out of it then I'm not gonna whine too much. We're all in this together right?

I only looked again because I have two girls that I thought should maybe enter. But one of them is a bber. How the hell do I tell her that the show right in her backyard is discriminating against fbbers? I'm trying to encourage more girls to do bbing but this is not helping. I know how I would feel if I was just starting out and saw how we were treated sometimes. Very discouraging:(

I just heard that too and I am not happy about it. I have a bunch of girls doing a local regional level show, and then for more stage time and practice were planning on the wbff before provincials ----- this is not right, it is just a competition, I don't understand why crossover isn't allowed....... I still haven't gotten 100% confirmation, anyone else hear anything??

Where are you gals hearing about a ban and who is doing the banning? lol.
And nope, there is no FBB in mainstream fitness on TV. It is what it is. I have to hand it to the WBFF guys though, they were able to get exposure on MTV Canada up here through their first couple of years.

cbbf and the individual provinces are able to make the ban in effect

just got official confirmation --- the ban is only if the athlete competes in an organization that gives CASH prizes --- ie. wbff (I believe) --- fame does not award cash, so it is still okay, as is the idfa, etc ----- I am assuming, going by the email from my provincial organization............
The ban is back for CBBF athletes. I would be very careful who you compete for. Although I do not feel you should pick and choose one federation - if you goal is to get an IFBB pro card stick to just the CBBF.

Contact the CBBF if unsure of whether or not this affect you. Always best to ask questions BEFORE prepping for shows.

Laurie who did you hear that from?
I think it applies to all non IFBB santioned organizations.
Like Allison mentioned, "Be very careful" and find out for yourself before entering a show with another organization.
This is not just in Canada. This is coming from the Pres. of the IFBB himself & applies world wide. They are just making it the responsibility of the provinces to enforce it.

It has come to our attention within the last few weeks that the CBBF and its affiliate Associations has been sending threatening letters to competitors all across Canada regarding being banned and /or suspended for competing with “other” organizations. Know your rights! NO AMATEUR ATHLETES CAN BE SUSPENDED OR BANNED FOR COMPETING IN ANY OTHER ORGANIZATION OTHER THAN THE CBBF, AND ANY OF ITS AFFILIATE ORGANIZATIONS. It is within your legal rights to be able to compete with as many organizations as you wish, as an amateur competitor.
If you do accept Pro Status from any organization, you will then forfeit your rights to be considered as an amateur athlete, but that is the only way that you can loose your eligibility as an amateur. Again, please know your rights, amateur athletes cannot be suspended or banned for competing with multiple organizations.
You can do the research yourself. For example in 1983 the NPC vs. The AAU where the NPC President Jim Manion took the AAU to court for this reason. The AAU stated to ban competitors who competed in NPC shows. The AAU lost the case and it was stated that “amateur athletes cannot be banner or suspended for competing in multiple organizations.”
The WBFF does not believe in banning or suspending any competitors for competing with multiple organizations. We believe that competitors have the right to choose where they decide to compete, and no organization has the right or the authority to tell you where you can or can’t compete. As a competitor you must do what is best for you, and compete where you feel you have the best opportunities.
WBFF President,

I'm sooo confused --- getting dizzy!!!
This is not for me - I am 110% CBBF ---- but I do have girls who like the more fitness model type shows, ie. fame and wbff ---- so I am looking out for them..............
Lori-
If you go to the CBBF website and see the front page, there is an example of a 'ban' letter and they give the reasons on the site, on when they will send it to you

thanks allison - yep, saw the letter a while back - and I do agree with the cbbf, that we are amaetur athlete's and shouldn't receiving cash prizes for winning, thus the ban for wbff ----- but now wbff is coming back and saying this is false......... so what will happen is there will be a bunch of girls who trust this claim stated above by the wbff, compete for them, and then realize they can't do provincials, etc cause it is indeed okay for them to suspend for one year.
Again, this doesn't apply to me - but it makes me look bad as I am telling all of my girls they can't do wbff and cbbf ----- or they will be suspended.

YOU KNOW I HEARD HIM SAY THIS AT THE ATHLETES MEETING BUT I WONDER...
it would seem to me any group, organization would HAVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE MEMBERSHIP TO ANYONE THEY CHOOSE....
ie: my gym i work at FITNESS WORLD has the right to refuse or terminate a membership if they see fit
so why wouldn't a Physique Organization
the choice is yours
and you are responsible for the choices you make
don't cry later if you've been warned and you didn't heed the warning...
