Now that I'll be doing a routine this year, I'm listening to what catches my fancy. I have several in mind and already am trying to choreograph my routine. Although it sucks that only Top 5 actually presents their routine. Boohoo! I got my work cut out for me.

I gotta be honest, I was so pre-occupied with practicing my mandatories and getting a 45 second free pose down that my posing routine was kind of an after-thought last year. I picked music that I liked (reggae) and didn't worry too much about the fact that no one would recognize the song lol. I cut 90 seconds of it, and then I put together the routine like 2 days before the competition.
I wrote it down, practiced it a few times, and then when I got up on stage, I forgot the entire second half of it and just went through my 45 second free pose that I had done during pre-judging. :o

This year, I am going to do better!! I would pick some music that you like and that you think the audience will enjoy and get into. And look for something that has some nice breaks where you can hold some poses...I don't like routines that are too fast and go through the posing too quickly.

Its hard to find music that works well - my personal favs consist of heavy metal music from the 80s and psychadelic trance music from the late 90s. Neither of which is very audience nor posing friendly. And worse, I'm not a great "mover".. But I do like to find something that is very memorable and different and then see if I can put a theme to it somehow.... My two favs so far have been my 2005 musics - a mix of a couple different renditions of the Theme from the Pink Panther, and then last year I mixed together parts of the classic James Bond Theme w/ Madonna's Bond movie theme music. It turned out pretty cool I thought!

I am ALWAYS listening for music that would be cool to pose to, and this year I'm back at square one w/ my usual lifting stuff - 80s heavy metal & 90s trance....

Hi Jill! Great to see you here!

I like the idea of The Theme from Pink Panther. Lots of playful moves could be involved and not to forget some sexiness as well.

Do you have some of your routines on vid? Love to see them!

The Pink Panther routine I had on a DVD from my show in 2005 but the DVD was really poor quality and its since just gotten completely pixellated.

The James Bond mix was from 2007 -- its on the right side of my myspace page: www.myspace.com/gondivin

I had a great time mixing that one!

This year I'm having David help me pick out music for my routine. Its going to be interesting as we both have similar taste. I had even thought about doing "No One" by Alicia Keys as my posing song and dedicating that to him as he has helped me out a lot and is my best friend. But thats still up in the air. shhhhhhhh lol
