she looks incredible, awesome size, detail in her physique, symmetry and conditioning....a great example of how a LW can look HUGE!
(and of how age is irrelevant for FBB's...) :respect:

Speaking of huge, I came across some of your pictures from a few years ago and was shocked at how much size you've put in since then. Keep up the good work. I like the bigger and better version of today. :) Not that there was anything wrong with the older version.

thank you ibarrmedia...last night i was downloading some old pics from 2005 and was happy to notice the same thing. i've learned a lot in the last 3 years and i'm looking forward to getting on stage (finally!). i just keep working on the weak areas and stay focussed on improving. consistency is the most important quality in this sport i think. it helps i have a very objective husband, his feedback has been good for me.
anyway oops, didn't mean to divert this thread -- back to joanne, i love her physique!! i really like to tell my clients out here about ladies like her. she is such a great role model for women who think its not possible for them to get in shape after a certain age!

Wow guys I am blown away.... i have only just checked my hotmail after god, how many months and find all the thread notifications. You would be hard to find more than two lines written about my win on nz forums so it seems uncanny that you guys are so incredible about the subject...
Before I go on Dr Lisa, I give you full credit for your pics - you were the best looking photographer in NZ ..... Now did you see the one I took of you stretching Toney Freeman.. I love that pic!.. I know you loved NZ while you were here and Im sorry we didnt get to chat much, if at all really. It gets a wee bit frantic, hectic and totally crazy when the man of house organises the biggest event in the NZ calendar year... while Im still dieting ... grgghhh.... Still the event was amazing and we cant wait for the next one. Hopefully next time more of our amateurs will put in an appearance and make for a better regional show on the day .
Now you guys are just so supportive... it really does amaze me... thanks so much for your interest and support of me.. To tell the truth, I was scared to death of going to Ohio... Days before travelling over I was sitting on the deck at home in the hot sun crying - yep tears and all thinking "Oh god, what the hell am I doing - how can I compete with those girls.. thoughts like we all have during those low energy skinny fat days..... you girls know what I mean... Anyway as I said on a previous post before this one -it was an absolute thrill standing on stage with your competitors.. and regardless of my win or not, I would still state the same. The americans really stand behind bodybuilding woman.. NZ is shall we say, a little backward and definately not very accepting of bodybuilding females... I still get more scared guest posing than I do standing on stage internationally.. I still havent even heard from a NZ magazine after winning two major international events. Si reading your comments is amazing without making my head too big... that is.
I dont place alot of emphasis of the fact that I have just turned 47 as there are hundreds of woman in their late forties who still look very very spunky and hold a good amount of muscle but I am certainly in favour of pushing the fact that we must never give up... I never dreamed of every being an international champ and it has happened twice now, maybe a fluke, but I have grown each year I still love competing and will do so until .... well whenever.. while Im still improving I will still be competing.
I competed at 123.5lbs on stage at the Arnold, about 1kg heavier than the Masters Worlds..... Oh we go by kgs in NZ!.... I was slightly heavier than the Masters Worlds mainly cos for 2-3 weeks after the Worlds which was early december, I wasnt sure if I was doing the Arnold really. Well I found it too good to be true so never believed it would actually happen so my diet didnt really kick in till late... I enjoyed Xmas and New year instead and the hot summer was all the more reason to try to lay off the diet somewhat.. lol cant blame a girl for trying to delay things abit.
Anyway I wont go on, but I first started reading this board cos I wanted to check out my competition at the Arnold so was hoping to get to read about some of the girls on it... And I did get totally addicted for awhile there.
Anyway expect to hear from some more Kiwis as I am putting your banner up on my site tomorrow.... thanks guys...

:waving: Fellow kiwi gal reporting for duty!
Would like to add my congratulations to Jo on her fantastic showing at the Arnold. Jo is such an inspiration to all us ladies from NZ. Sometimes things can seem unreachable when you come from a little country like ours, but Jo inspires us and shows us that anything is possible, you just have to believe in yourself and put in the effort. Not only having an awesome physique, Jo is the most wonderful lady as well and is always there for everybody when we're down, stressing about diets or anything. She definitly doesn't get the recognition at home that she deserves. But Jo, we all love you!!!
PS: Great forum!
