I train in the Am as I like to have the rest of the day to relax and get my errands done. How about you?

On days I work I do cardio (HIT) in the am then go back in the evening to lift and more cardio.

I'm in contest prep now so it's both AM (cardio) :tr: and PM (weights) :strong:.
Off-season it's mostly AM as I prefer to have the rest of the day free when I finish work.

PM! It takes me several hours after waking just to be mentally coherent. Plus, I feel like I have more physical energy to lift after having a few meals.

Mine just varies depending on my clients! Sometimes I prefer a.m. though and sometimes p.m. but I think here in a little bit it will be changing to that mid-day slot from about 12-2 somewhere ;)

Bella, whats ur day job?

When I lived in Orlando, Fl I owned a personal training studio. Now, I live, eat, sleep bodybuilding and fitness. I do personal training on the side and then some. I do have interest in the physical therapy field, and I am looking into that. Belive it or not I am also a writer and working on a book.

In the offseason and if schedule permits I enjoy lifting between the hours of 10a-1p.

I don't feel blessed sometimes. God does things in mysterious ways, and he never gives us more than we can handle.

My book would be like Chemical Pink *wink

More importantly I want to create a training book. Hugo Rivera,a friend of mine, inspired me on that.

Without question, I love to train after work...I can realease all my work stresses on the weights before I bring it home to my family......I absolutelty HATE training in the morning......(except during my contest preo when I HAVE to do a.m. cardio, but I have a bike & tread at home which is nice cuz I do not have to drive anywhere.)Especially in the cold, dark & snow...

This is totally my preference, but I have to be at work by around 9 AM, and during contest prep, I do my cardio in the morning on the equipment I have at home.

Plus, my husband and I can train together in the evenings...he leaves for work at 6:30 am so we can't swing it in the mornings.

I usually workout in the PM since I'm more alert but AM workouts are a nice change of pace.

Does anyone here notice a difference when they workout in the AM or PM?

AM, unless I'm a lazy ass. If and when I'm lazy I hate myself. Train in the PM is a pain in my ass.

I do notice that I fall asleep much easier when I train in the AM, but my lifts are stronger in the PM.

I'm really shocked at how many morning people there are!

The only thing that's essential for me with AM training is that I eat a good meal beforehand. I hate lifting weights on an empty stomach!

I normally start training between 5:40-5:45pm. But I just did some very intense circuit training @ noon and I loved it. I amy switch to training around this itme for a bit. Feels good to have it over with. I sometimes have a hard time sleeping so I'll see this week if I notice I sleep better since I am not wound up from training at night.

Usually right around 730am, earlier if I have more cardio than usual.

If I train at night I rush through everything to get HOME. I despise training at night.

If I am struggling with motivation then I force myself to go in the morning, but if I am doing something really fun like CrossFit then I go at night so I have something to look forward to all day.

Always jog at night...so the dog doesn't pull me when she sees other people and stuff.

I'm trying a Crossfit workout for the first time tomorrow at the prompting of a gym trainer.

Anyone else enjoy this kind of workout? He said it's addicting.

Because of my work schedule, I have to work-out at night unfortunately. I totally hate it!!!! I arrive at the gym at 6pm when Mr. Anybody-Everybody is there... ?*($&?$%?

At least during the week-end, I can go at 8am. Ahhhhh le bonheur total :)

When I can go in the morning, I notice that my energy level is way higher throughout the whole day. I wish I could do that more often

Get up at 3:45 a.m. Mon-Fri and get to the gym and train by 5-5:30 a.m. Weekends I sleep in a little and train around 9:00 a.m. but at first it was hard to get adjusted to training that early and only having one meal in me but you get used to it and its worked very well for me.

I've been primarily doing crossfit workouts or some variation of them for over a year, and the best part about it I find is that it never gets old.

I will say that its not a routine for a "body builder" because the focus is on a different form of fitness, with a focus on power, flexibility, strength, endurance, etc., but if you want to leave yourself spent on the floor with 20 minutes of pure intensity it will totally be worth it.

With my schedule which can be unpredictable at times, I get it in when I can. I prefer to workout in the morning. My energy levels at night are depleted...I just feel better when I get it in early.

Wow! Lots of morning people on this thread! Unless I'm doing a prep, I NEVER train before 11 a.m., I am just too tired and not a morning person at all. In fact, when I'm preparing for a show I have been known to sleep in my workout clothes so all I have to do is walk 20 feet to the elliptical. :o
I prefer to work out around 2-3 p.m., then do cardio after because there are not so many people at the gym. My schedule has miraculously opened up at that time this fall and it has been great!
More power to you early risers though. I wish I had that much energy! :respect:

In the off-season I work out after work. For contest prep I do weights and some intervals in the AM and cardio in the PM.

I would love to work out around 12AM-1PM but I am in the job and I have around 9hours long working time. So I usually train at 6-7PM and morning I have cardio 5:30-6:30 AM before I go to my job.....

I am thinking of pay gym near my job and train during the lunch break.... but that means TWO gym memberships - as I love our old gym where I usually train - and that is too expensive and a little bit crazy :D:D

Definitely at night! I have no strength in the morning. Also, if I work out in the morning it drains my energy for the day and I barely make it though.

Actually, I am suprised at how many mid afternoon people are on here. I expected you all to be 4am FREAKS! My most common gym time is around 2pm on a day off, and any second gym visits are at around 10pm--I love late workouts. On work days, I take what I can get....any hour, anywhere--and early morning is the WORST.

Towards the end of my prep it was AM and PM. Most times though....it's whenever I can fit it in. YUCK!

AM!!! I don't feel like my day has started until I hit it hard in the gym. It's my "me" time and helps me focus for the rest of the day.

Prior to doing contest prep (and before starting my current job), I would wake up around 9 am and be at the gym around 11 am. I loved this setup!

During contest prep I did my cardio mid-morning then would head back for weights around 1 in the afternoon.

Now, during the offseason and with my current work schedule, most of my workouts are done early in the AM (5 am) before work, as I absolutely despise working out at the end of the day. Granted, I'm not a huge fan of getting up at the crack of dawn either, but it's the only way I'll get it done.

I love my morning workouts, at the gym every weekday at 5am at the latest. No traffic, or waiting for equipment, plus as a wife and mother of 3 it gives me more time with my family.

I am NOT a morning person! I trudge through cardio in the am and then hit the gym after work, around 4pm, and work off all the stress of teaching elementary students all day.

My training time changes on a daily basis. On a perfect day which would be my day off I like training around 1-2 pm. Otherwise I train around 10:00 am or between 5-6 pm.

On workdays I take my "lunch" hour early and train from 7:15 to 8:15 in the morning. The Navy Yard has a really good gym, just a few yards from where I work, and best of all, it's free for military and civilian employees. :awesome: I joke that I train with NCIS and the Marines. ;) I do cardio in the afternoon at my local gym, after I get home, usually around 4:00.

On days I'm off from work, I do cardio around 8:00 or 9:00, then weights in the afternoon, around 2:00.
