question for you competitors guys and gals.

I can not stand seafood LOL but have read /heard lots of competitors consume primarily white fish/asparagus.

Is there a reason to consume white fish opposed to chicken breast?

I know asparagus...which BTW whats the best way to prepare those just nuke 'em?

Absolutely not!!

I would love to hear a scientific/physiological explanation from anyone who says there is.

Bodybuilding mythology.

You can nuke them in those steamer bags....it's pretty good like that. I also love grilled asparagus. Do you have a george foreman? I cook mine like that a lot.

Erik: thank goodness lol but I have read so many things about white fish & lots of competitors consuming white fish opposed to chicken breast *shrug* today there was an event (locally) little fitness/health expo. This company does nutrition/diet saying this gal has a wk left and will be consuming primarily and lots of white fish and asparagus.

oh also: yes I have a foreman:)

Just because people do it, doesn't mean there's any logic to it. There's also people who do 3 hours of cardio per day. I think that's just as silly.

Fat loss comes down to energy intake - simple as that. When calories are positioned where they should be, and your macros are positioned as they should be, chicken is no different than tilapia.

I had a girl who worked with someone last year who had to eat tilapia 7 times a day for 6 weeks, EVERY DAY and 2 hours of cardio per day and 6 workouts per week. Why would anyone put themselves through that?

This year I didn't have her eat ANY fish and she is much better than last year both in muscularity and placing in the contest - with no double cardio sessions and no more than four weights workouts per week.

Don't fall into that trap. Even those that do it can't explain why.

It's unfortunate that for people just starting out in this industry that they're pretty much mislead by people into thinking that they have to do illogical things to meet their goals - hours upon hours of cardio eating about 4 different foods on their extraordinarily restrictive diets. CAN you get in shape that way? Most definitely. But why kill yourself if you don't have to? Hello post-contest rebound.

No. Unless you have some kind of food sensitivity to it, it's fine.

Must be nice! How much weight do you allow yourself to gain in the off-season?

Ah, broscience! :p

The protein macros are generally more important than source. But if I could afford it, I'd eat more fish, not less. I love it!

I'm eating chicken, white fish, and steak all the way up until show. Although I will tell you, I just started eating tilapia for the first time leading up to my last show (and I SWORE up and down I'd NEVER in a million years eat fish! It used to nauseate me in restaurants when people I sat with or even around me ate fish, and NOW I'M EATING IT and ACTUALLY ENJOYING IT!). It's a nice break from eating dry chicken breast - season it with some lemon juice and it tastes great. No fishy taste at all!

You will notice a difference based on your blood type....I PROMISE U!!!

I was not a believer 'til I tried it....but I got shredded FAST when I cut back on certain sources of proteins/carbs and ate others.

I recommend for you all to purchase the Blood Type Diet book and find out which types of proteins/carbs/fats your body digests easiest.
