View Full Version : Badger's Take on the NA

Good times! :yippie:

I thought the show was very well run for the most part, and the venue was extremely convenient.

It was so great to finally put a real face with some of the people I've met on the boards, and I met a lot of great new people too.

I am totally wiped out! It's going to take me a week to recoup. I think I slept maybe a total of 4 hours from Wed- Sat. I seriously went through hell to make the lightweight cut off, and it really zapped me. On Thursday morning before I flew out, I weighed just under 121....miraculously I weighed in right at 115 at 7PM. Last time in the lightweights for me! :)

I'm really happy with how I came in for this show, and the improvements I've made in my physique since the Arnold in March. Sure, I would have liked to have placed better, but I feel good about my own progression, and I'm ready to start working on the improvements that need to be made. I'm going to kill it next year after a good offseason! I really think, and others seem to agree, that at my height I need to compete as a middleweight....so bring on the size!

The competition among fbb at the NA was insane! SO many phenomenal women.
Our Lori really represented, and watching from the audience I was amazed at how well she compared to the bigger girls during the overall posedown. She could have easily taken the overall.
I was extremely impressed with the lhw winner, Jody Wald. I just love her physique...she's gorgeous.
One thing I thought was especially nice at this show was the cameraderie among competitors...I can't speak for figure, but all of the fbbs were very friendly and helpful with one another. This makes a competition much more enjoyable because I have seen a lot of catty and bitchy women at the local level.

I ate some good food this weekend after the show, but it never lives up to the fantasy we make it. Back to a bodybuilding diet for me tomorrow. I can't eat anything with sugar without feeling like I'm having a heart attack anyway.

Back to reality now! It's always difficult for me to get back to real life...school, work, etc., ..after a competition.
Looking forward to AC in 2 weeks!

K, so I'm not much of a photographer, but here are the few pics I did take:

I agree with Joe. I had you second in the lightweight class.

Continue to grow, but keep your symmetry and proportion. :)

Nope, I took 3rd. I do see why though...Anna's lower body was more developed than mine. I need more in my upper quads and glutes.

wow - my mistake. Admittedly, I had a busy holiday weekend and didn't look at too many shots other than a few comparisons of each class, but just from those quick glances I had MAG in 2nd easily. I'll have to take a closer look now. But nevertheless, what I did see proved that she made great strides since the Arnold, and brought a very pleasant physique to the stage. It was indeed a strong class.

So again, congrats, and WELL DONE!

This was my first look at Maryann (I guess i was asleep at the wheel during the Arnold) and immediately got in line to be able to bring her into the Kriv Studios fold. Luckily, i was successful. Since it was the last shoot of the day for both of us, we were able to head down to the Lake amid a plethora of people and events, which included the Air show, to get a very memorable shoot in. I always wanted to go to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame to use as a back drop for a shoot and it finally happened. I couldn't have picked a better Model to do so with.

Yeah Maryann, i think Tre' would have liked to have pulled that shoot off too, but i can't really blame him because I'm like that too. Sometimes its just a timing issue. I actually had a similar feeling about Tom Nine during the weekend (I won't mention the Models name here) but you just have to shake it off and move on.
Bottom line Tre'..you win some & you lose some.

Thanks, Ann!

I'm 5'4.5" ....can't forget that 1/2 an inch!

...which actually makes me pretty tall for a bodybuilder, especially a lw, and that's the reason I feel I need to move up to the middles.

That was indeed unfortunate Shannon. It could have been so much better if my first shoot would have been more aware that there were other people involved in the process. I would have liked to have gotten much more content of you, especially video. I'm also upset because of the domino effect of that late start, caused the cancellation of my shoot with Neely which was planned awhile ago. She's a sweetheart too (along with John) for being so understanding about it.

That was my take on Lou's statement as well.

Sounds like T9 must have had a really shitty weekend. He's pissed at both Tre' and Lou, according to published reports.

Not sure what Lou is thinking cancelling on Neely. Are you out of your mind, Louis? LOL That's my dream shoot! :D

Hey Tom 9,
You missed my point. I was saying that i wish i was in your shoes when you were shooting a certain Model, just like Tre' was hoping he could have shot with Maryann as i did. I was actually complimenting you on your good fortune to be working with that Model. That's all. Lets not be so sensitive. From my point of view, you had a very productive weekend.
Joe, i couldn't shoot with Neely because i was running behind and when it came to her time to work, i was just starting with the Model who was scheduled before her. She knows that, thankfully.

Gotcha Lou. I'm just sayin' - late doesn't fly with me. Not sure who this late model of yours was that caused this domino effect like you said, but no model is going to push back my schedule and make me late for other shoots or have to cancel other shoots. If a model cannot show up to my shoot on time as she committed to, I either do not shoot her, or I change it from a 90 minute to a 75 minute shoot, or a 60 minute to a 45 minute shoot, etc.... and adjust her pay accordingly. If she doesn't like it, then perhaps she should've shown up on time? Being professional and accountable isn't too much to ask.

I agree that T9 has been abnormally sensitive recently. hmmm.....

In my case, a particular model told me that she had nothing scheduled after me.

So, when I said to meet me at 5 minutes after the scheduled start time, I still planned to end at the original time, but when she said, "Hey, can I take a coffee break before we start and come a little later?" I didn't think there was any problem.

When she arrived, however, she told me she actually did have something scheduled right after me, so we contacted the other shooter right away. Even though it would've cramped me a little, I was fine with cutting things off at our original time and adjusting the rate, but the other photographer said to go ahead and take the full hour since he was free anyway.

That said, I'm very big on people following through on what they say they will do with respect to others' time.

Hey, Moderators - maybe you could move this and other related posts to a separate thread. This looks like an important topic, because the photographers have obviously done a very poor job of educating the models and potential models.
