From left to right in that pic
Stephanie Togrul-Tulin(number 34) placed 5.
Then Jelena Abbou (number 13) placed 3.
Then in the middle in that pic Bernadette Calvan (12) - the winner of the show
Then Hazal Nelson (number 5) - placed second.
And the girl in the right Shannon Meteraud (35) placed 4.
I guess noone really knows what criteria...

This whole thing is insane, but I wont repeat all my words again, I already told my opinion clearly enough in another theard. But this is how the thing is and I would love to see that change.

I saw: 50% do not know how to show their body. Show dignity and hide flaws. Girls do not know how posed. They do not know the rules? I do not understand!

Ironbull, that world in NPC/PRO figure is totally diffirent than here in Europe/ here in IFBB amateur shows. Posing is totally different - they are not allowed to show their muscles. And those girls are not even allowed to have muscles and they are not allowed to be hard / in good condition. In our eyes it is insane and ridiculous and really hard to understand (Believe me, I have tried to understand the point in that), but that is the way it is there.

Good post, Anne! I live in the US and agree. The Australian, Canadian & European Figure competitors are waaay more muscular & conditioned :)
I never did like the look of the GAP between the legs these girls have....

My two cents… A good reference what figure should look like see the top 6 at the IFBB Pittsburgh Pro Figure. You’ll notice how different Amy Fry looked from the Arnold to Pittsburgh. Many women are thinking that by the words “soft” that they can slack on the diet. This is simply not true. You need to still show a muscularity, symmetry HEALTHY and athletic look. Women will be marked down for separated quads and looking “too hard”. That means your level of conditioning is the dry, hardened look that works for male bodybuilders but not the females. This usually happens when a competitor is training with a trainer who doesn’t know what he or she is doing. Don’t overdue the contest prep but at the same time don’t think this is an excuse not to diet and train. Women should pay attention to their entire presentation. Hair, makeup, suit cut and color, shoes - it’s the entire package. Lenay Hernandez won the JR USA because she possessed that. Some women are bitter and feel that they are loosing out to a better looking woman. You choose to participate in figure, no one is holding a gun to your head. Don’t hate on the women who possess the healthy, attractive, feminine look that is going to help the industry.

Criteria:
1. Proportions.
2. Allowed muscle (the one that fits this athlete).
3. Quality (tone, depth study of muscles required separation, but again, who is both).
4. Filing (costumes, hairstyle, the ability to move on stage, make-up).
5. Presentable (beauty, inner charisma, the ability to attract the public gaze, the fans and judges).
YES?? YESSS!!

STILL PROBLEMS WITH QUARTER TURNS
You might think that there is no simpler matter than to stand erect and do quarter turns. But practice shows, that it is not so easy and the IFBB judge (and former fitness world champion) Gabriela Mlsnova, who worked as a stage director in Skopje, had to demonstrate the proper position not only during the meeting with competitors prior to the contest but also on stage, as it is seen in this picture. Competitors (from L to R): Heidrun Sigurdardottir (Iceland), Isil Metin (Turkey) and Natalia Kuzmyna (Ukraine).

Ironbull - why don't you go to a different website if you don't like what goes on here in the USA. Would you like it if we criticized your country and the rules you have in this sport? I, personally, don't understand your attitude and comments.
But as you say, "I am happy life. I am satisfied"..................and I say back to you, "That's great! Good for you. But don't make everyone miserable with your lame attempt at humor!!"
The secret to humor is surprise.

I was at the show and it was obvious what they were going for: they wanted tiny, tight bodies, with full round (not striated or hard) muscles bellies, and pretty faces. 4 out of the top 5 fit that criteria. 4 of them were extremely tiny bodies and were supper tight one was completely different so that was a shocker. But girls who looked striated or HARD were put to the very last call outs. There were a few that I thought fit that criteria but had bad call outs???
I will say those lights were very difficult on the girls. They only had down lighting so it casted some horrible shaddows on some not to friendly areas. Girls looked like they had jello butties did not have that same look in person! They needed more up lighting!

With regards 2 lighting.... I was thinking if they got it right for the men why not the women...but I guess if your not hard/striated like the guys it will make your firm/fit look worse.
What competitors did you feel had bad call outs...I'm just wondering b/c there's a difference between tiny and tight and emaciated. But I know there's nothing like being at a show in person vs. pics....so I'm sure there's alot we didn't see.

Okay, now you're putting me on the spot........ :-)
I thought Elizabeth Lamb looked similar to the girls in top 5 so I was suprised she didn't place better
#24 - not sure her name, had a great upper body and was tight tinny! I think her legs needed to be a little larger but overall had what they were looking for (I thought)
I was shocked Amy Peters didn't do better. She really brought down the muscle and had a nice tight package. The only weekness I saw on her body was her butt which I'm sure melted away from getting smaller.
#27 looked GREAT from the front, needed to be a tighter from the back though.
Romera - I thought belonged in top 5 for sure - her suit was awesome!

Oh thank you so much. You have just put a smile on my face. It is so tough especially when the line up is as huge as Dallas. 38 girls - my goodness! Honestly, I thought so many of the girls looked absolutely amazing but as Felecia mentioned in another thread, it really is so subjective. I am happy but dissapointed at the same time. The more I look at pictures the more confused I become. All of us want to do well. The important thing here is that we stay focused and take each show at a time. I am totally putting this one behind me for now and focusing on AC. Fingers crossed I get better than 18th!

I like Tamee, because she's got balls.
:respect:
The thing is, if the people in charge no longer want people training and dieting for 'physique' competitions, then they (the competitions) need to be sold as something else.
That being said, *I'm* not going to pay to see it, but other people are more than welcome to choose to spend their money the way they want to. If I want to see stereotypical 'bikini bodies', I'm positive that I can go to the beach to see them.
