Unless I'm mistaken, this is the contest that made board member Jane Awad an IFBB Pro, back in 2004, right?!? :)

THE NORTH AMERCIA DIDN'T HAVE PRO CARDS LAST YEAR RIGHT, OR DID IT? I DON'T REMEMBER.

Yes. Maria Segura won the women's BB overall and qualified for her Pro card, but then showed up at the Arnold Amateur this year. I'm still not sure what happened there, but yes, there were Pro Cards last year as well as the previous years.

Lori is correct. Amy Thompson, Jessica Steffens and Nancy Georges turned Pro at the 2007 NAs in Figure.

From what I understand, in the case of Maria she simply refused to send in her application for a pro card after her win, and decided to remain in the amateur ranks (and thus she qualifies for and continues to get subsidies that the Mexican government provides to its amateur athletes to aid them in their training and preparation).

So then the 2nd place overall placer should have gotten the chance to get her Pro card...
I dont think thats fair they let a Pro card go to waste...

You are correct.

Believe it or not she placed 11th at Canadian Nationals a few weeks prior to that!

Nina Luchka (also Canadian) won the overall in 2005 or 2006 at NA's
