I have a girl that I am training and she has lost so much weight in her legs and glutes, that she has very loose skin on the lower part of her glutes. I have her do heavy squats with a wide stance, heavy weighted lunges 3 days a week with emphasis on squeezing the glutes as she pushes up, and squat jumps. We worked her hamstrings very heavy also this past year with stiff leg dead lifts and lying leg curls. And always finishing up with one legged leg curls. I've never seen anything like this. Does anyone have any suggestions that could tighten this skin? Or does she just need to build more muscle in her glutes to smooth it out?

When you say loose skin...is it really just loose skin, or is it an area where she tends to hold more fat?
If it really is excess skin from weightloss, there may not be a whole lot in the gym that will tighten it. Does she have this problem in other areas, too?

Regular deadlifts are great too. Weighted step ups. Make sure her ass is at her HEALS when she squats...form is everything..add weight later. Leg presses..have her knees hit her EARS. Vertical presses would be better.
I do hip abductions EVERY leg workout as well. I do these HEAVY.
The step mill (or gauntlet) or treadmill at no less than 8 on the incline.
And DEEP long stretches post workout.

Either way..if she builds up the muscles...the skin will not bunch up and hang. ..and who doesn't look GREAT w/ a firm and plump booty?;)

This used to be where she held her fat. We dieted it all down. Now its just skin that wrinkles up and shakes a bit when she walks. She's completely tight everywhere else. Her posing conceals it all. We've really focused on how she walks onto stage. Making sure she squeezes her glute with each step she takes. This helps, but you can't help but notice the crease and bunching of the skin as she steps.

Most of these we do. We don't do hip abductions, but I believe we may have to incorporate that. I was lucky to have a great trainer that taught me all about correct form. So I make sure I pass it on to the next girl. It just beats all I've ever seen.

I think this is what we will have to focus on this off season. I do LOVE a plump booty!:ass:

Dually noted! Any suggestions on how to do vertical leg presses without a vertical leg press machine? Those look awesome, but I haven't had the opportunity to work with one before. I wished we had better butt equipment at our gym. I'm gonna have to get onto the hubby about that!

I've had some trouble adding muscle to the glute area, and I know this sounds , but I swear this has really helped...
I think about my butt all the time!..... in the gym, even when I'm just walking outside the gym. I try to engage the glutes rather than letting other muscles take over.
Also...cable kickbacks, squats w/ a hold at the bottom, reverse hypers, one-leg squats
She may want to try a topical solution as well. I'm sponsored by this company, but I would suggest it nonetheless:

You have to already be at a fairly low bf to really notice results, but it has definitely worked for me in tightening those stubborn areas and drawing the water out of places that like to hold on to it. I always use it precontest.

Carefully use the smith machine and have her lay on a mat or on the floor (it won't kill her) just set up the lock, thingies (can't think of what the heck they are called lol) as low to the floor (w/out snapping her legs in half) as you can.

I think it's called Lipoderm. Def works better than Preparation H but that will work too.

THat's so funny about squeezing your glutes all the time because I do that too. That's what we've really been practicing this week! And she got an idea from someone to put prepH on her lower glutes and wrap them in saran wrap overnite. And I have to say, after doing this 2 nights in a row, they are much tighter! Thanks for the tips!!!

Aha! I thought about this idea, but I'm afraid her foot will slip since the bar is round and not flat. I'm going to try it really slow and controlled b4 I let her attempt it.

Thanks for all the great info!

I have an issue with this area myself......and it doesn't improve at all until I'm very dieted down & it still doesn't completely....
But I have to comment on the Yohimburn produce - I won't do contest prep without it.....it helps that area greatly on me!

I think its a female thing. That area in general is hard to attack as a woman....which is why the glute hamstring tie in has become such a high mark of solid conditioning when it comes to judging....because girls who nail the glute/ham tie in LITERALLY have worked their asses off.
