Jane is one of Canada's top figure competitors. In 2007, she placed a LOT lower than I thought she would at the Arnold, considering she places fifth the previous year. And in the Jan Tana, she was just one point short of qualifying for the Olympia. You can't get any closer than that! Here's hoping she will grace the Olympia stage again in 2008.

How can a top pro take place in a model search? Hasn't she already been "discovered" by any relevant industry person?

Just wondering. I love Jane, btw. This is no knock on her. She's wonderful. I just don't see how one would need to "search" for one who is already a professional figure competitor and fitness model. Seems silly to me.

Good question, that doesn't make sense to see a pro in a model search contest. Anyone know the story behind that?

Perhaps not. But the question still remains. Perhaps model search isn't the best term to describe this particular event then? Model "audition for a job" or something? LOL Cuz if you're a pro, there isn't any "searching" that needs to be done, as you've already been "discovered". Right?

Gotta agree with HD there, Jane should be focusing elsewhere as a pro then a model search.

So this leads to my question for you...what are/is the prizes? We had asked a question to Jim Rockell at a seminar he spoke at last weekend and he touched a little bit on this.

That's what MD called it last I heard.

The winner, and I don't know how it will be judged, will be featured in MD's column "Model Distraction".

Which is basically an interview with John Romano, and a photo shoot with Per Bernal.

Jane is not the only pro in the contest. All of the ladies chosen to work the MD booth were automatic finalists for the contest as well as 10 additional ladies that applied. I am not really sure why they are calling a Model Search because I think all it really is, is a contest to draw people to the MD Booth. The winner gets to be featured in the Major Distraction section of the MD Magazine. I dont know how they are going to choose a winner, whether it be based on crowd favorite, or judges, etc. but being one of the amateur girls selected as a finalist, I have to agree that the pro girls will most likely have the edge especially if it is based on crowd favortism as they have the advantage of being "a known figure". I am just honored to have been one chosen amongst them! It is gonna be wonderful to meet everyone. I think Jane is one of the most beautiful ladies to grace the pro stage and I cant wait to meet her in person!
