CBBF has two height classes for fitness: tall & short. Tall is 5'4" and over. There has been an announcement that starting in 2011 the height has been changed to 5'3" and over.

Now i'm kinda miffed cause for one, i'm tall and now this makes my job even that much harder (hahah well. I'm being honest :o LOL). But seriously. Put a 5'7" girl beside a 5'3" girl and those are two very different things. Like trying to compare a banana with an apple. Hence the different height categories in the first place.

So anyway judging by our random facebooking comments---i actually think that we are all tall now LOL.

If they wanna split up the classes maybe put medium back in (which they took out after 2004 or something)...imo it's just too much of a height difference. I have no idea why they made this change other than to shift the numbers around in the classes because Tall typically has less than Short. However when this occurs in Figure (example 2005 there were only 2 in figure short at nationals), no changes there.

Thanks for the news Renee. I agree they should just have three classes for fitness.

dumb dumb dumb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and DUMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I understand they want it to be fare --- here's a concept....

wait till registration - GET the numbers... then split it even down the middle --- it isn't THAT hard!!!!!

ie. 12 girls --- 6 in short ---- line em up, and divide down the middle ---- 6 in tall.

I am 5'8 too --- and would die to be next to a 5'3 girl!!!!!!! especially when physique is 50% and routine is only 50%..... apples to bananas - you said it!

who gets to just vote in these new rules without even checking with anyone... did someone die and appoint the executive to rule the world??? I thought we VOTED?? on things??? or is that a thing of the past??

I have a feeling we are going to see more and more dumb changes to try and cut back on the length of shows to make room for the new physique divisions. I do not agree with this one

No I dont agree with this one either. You just cant compare a physique at 5'3" to a 5'8". They are just too different. Would it be so bad to have 3 categories again? The only difference would be the host/promoter would have to buy 3 more trophies....wouldnt take anymore time to judge. It would actually go a bit quicker cause the classes would be smaller. Poor fitness girls....its already a smaller part of our sport....lets make it worse.

I competed in figure masters. At Nationals this year, there were 22 girls...got cut to 15, but only one height class for everyone...

Yes that has always been normal for nationals only top 15 are judged. I dont think that is fair either. Girls train so hard and then dont get to strut their stuff. Its nationals, everyone should be great! so number 16 doesnt get to be judged??? It sucks

Yeah...I was soooo happy to make that cut, but thought they would have split the girls into at least 2 different height classes.

Whoa! 5'3" is considered TALL?? :surprise:

I'm 5'9" barefoot (and bald :p LOL)! Even though I have long muscles and small bones, I'd look like a giant next to someone at 5'3", whether it was figure, fitness, or bodybuilding. That's a huge gap!
I'm still learning about how things work in the fitness/figure/BB competition world (rules, requirements, classes, etc.), so I'm having trouble understanding this change now too. I don't get it. Why are they doing it?

OMG thank you for feeling my pain! I have a problem with this. Yeah, if they want to split it up then put *back* the medium. I agree that it wouldn't really affect the length of the over all show (same number of girls). There is just too much of a height difference. I'm goign to laugh if we ALL end up in fitness tall this year and only a couple left in short.

I dont' know why or how or who made the change. BUt it is what it is. I guess?
