Definately a learning experience for me. It was nice to get to meet the girls I have been chatting with on here. Conrats to all the girls that placed in the top 5, I placed 7th and was a little disappointed because I went in with the best physique that I have ever had, worked my off these last few weeks to find out i was not what they were looking for. They wanted softer physiques. I had a great time, learned something new an met some really nice girls. I am so confused on what I need to look like now. My last 2 comps. i won and the judges said don't change a thing, well, now what do I do?
All and all good experience, fun and I got to meet some great girls.

:lol5: OMG I didn't know how to spell journies either!!!! Ha ha!!!! I felt the same way, it's been so intriguing reading everyone's journals the past few weeks and getting all those updates last night you'd think I was the one competing I was soooo excited!!!

Like Sioux was saying even though some may not have placed where you would have liked know that there are other women out there (such as myself) that would love to be at the level you are at right now. All of you are an inspiration to us who aspire to be on a National stage someday!!!! Keep on rocking we love you!!!!!!:bowdown:

WOw thats hard to answer because I know you want your pro card 2
But Top 10 @ a National show is GOOD..
I felt the same way when I placed 9th out of 9 gurls @ Jr Nationals in 05 but I knew what the problem was...I wasnt BIG enuff and I dont plan on getting any BIGGER..so back to what a lot of gurls have said compete for you not for the judges because they WILL have you confused...

I really felt so good going in, but your right,I am so confused on what to do now, I feel like I have to compete for them because I want my pro card, so lean muscle or soft muscle? Wish a NPC judge would respond.
But all in all I guess you are right, 7th out of 21 in my class, first Ntl show not too shabby, But going from overall to 7th

Judging from your photos you look phenomenal! I agree with the other posts...cracking the top 10, even top 15 at a national show (especially Figure Nationals at TU!) is a HUGE deal. You did great in my eyes and I bet next year or whatever you plan to do next you will only get better.
CONGRATULATIONS!

There will be more words written in this post than I have all year....I just like reading and browsing...:waving:

For the record am married now and my last name is Hooton...

I loved doing this show..."who took the d-bells?"...LOL...

I placed 2nd behind Lisa B. in the LHW...she was a great representative from our class in the overalls (I had her first, no offense to the LW)...Lisa's physique was well conditioned, and packed with muscle...a BIG CONGRATS to her...if I had to lose (which I hate) I'm glad it was to her...

I've been around this sport for a LOOOONG time...the first show I was ever a part of Lee Lebrada guest posed at (1988)...(some of you don't know who that is...;))...my only comment for everyone...please remember that you are all ambassadors of our sport...

Thanks Sioux Country for the coverage and support...and congrats to everyone that competed...sorry I missed the pix... I was eating potatoes...:puke:

i think your pics looked phenominal too! you need to remember that just like you said...YOU looked YOUR best! that is all you can do every time! So take the feedback you get from the judges...and make the changes YOU feel are necessary...and on to the next. but also remember that there are a lot of girls hwo would have LOVED to have placed 7th. thats very very good...even though you come from winning overall...so do a lot of other girls on that level..so its like an even playing field, ya know?

Tiffany, It was so nice to meet you this weekend and you looked GREAT! Keep doing what you do and I think you'll go far. You're an inspiration. I look forward to seeing you more. Train hard b/c we've got some pro cards to catch! ;)

I also asked one of the judges about what I could improve (right after I got off stage) and he said "who are you and what class were you in?" um..... you just finished judging me! Just remember that what she tells you might not be what their looking for at the next show. Each judge has his or her perfect physique. Figure changes all the time. But I don't think you need to do a thing.

I am very pleased with my experience...for more reasons than one!! Basically for redemption! For my 1st figure show I got 2nd place out of a class of 15. When I spoke to the judges they could not tell me not one thing in comparison to their #1 pick that I needed to improve on. They didn't say I need to come in harder, softer, change your hair, your suit, terrible posing, kiss my AZZ, nothing. All they could say was I had nice legs. WTF...you just looked at 15 girls and you can't tell me one thing I need to improve on! Then, finally after I kept asking a judge asked how many shows I had done. When I told him I had not competed in 8 years and that I had did bodybuilding he said, "Well, she (the winner) has done several shows this season and has done well." I respect all competitors..but THATwas a slap in the face!!!I was very bitter and pretty much vowed to never ever do a show in NC again.

You all wonder why I'm so positive!!! B/C I almost let one man stop me from competing!! It took my trainer talking to me about the love of the sport...if you let judges control your mind, emotions, and what you are going to do, you will never be successful in this sport. You have to always bring the package best for your physique, rather it be hard/soft otherwise..b/c it's any given Saturday at a figure show! I had to flip the switch and prove to myself that I could compete and do well!!

So, Jr. USA was redemption for me!! Y'all know I've been claiming Top 5 since I started my journal 3 weeks ago!! I feel that I have the package they are looking for and I think the judges on the National level were able to recognize it more so than the judges at my previous show!

I'm even happier than I was 10 minutes ago b/c I just found the score sheets. I was 6th place in the 1pc, and 3rd in the 2pc. There was definitely a battle in my class for 3rd-5th place...Check out these scores.

Class B

1st- 11 pts.
2nd- 23 pts.
3rd- 39 pts.
4th- 41 pts.
5th -42 pts.

I can not believe I missed 3rd place by 3pts and 4th by 1 pt!! Now that was a battle for real.

Overall, this was a great experience for me! I enjoyed the competition and the fact that figure was finished relatively early to have so many competitors..and also enjoyed finally getting to meet everyone in person!!

Here's the site to check out everyones scores!!

Hi everyone. I didn't finish dead last, so I accomplished my goal. This show was a big reminder to me that respectable size, muscle maturity and refinement really do take years, and years, and years, and years to develop. I have to keep reminding myself this was only my fourth show. You can't be in a hurry in this sport.

I'm also throwing my Aviva tanning crap out the window. I started looking like a swamp creature backstage. I think I was ready to have a full scale panic attack but the Protan team salvaged me.

I'm still learning. I'll be back next year.

FOR THE REGIONAL AND NATIONAL COMPETITORS.

THESE ARE THE STEPS THAT I TOOK WHEN I BEGAN AT LOCAL LEVEL SHOWS THAT EXTENDED TO THE REGIONAL AND NATIONAL LEVELS. I FIRST LISTENED AND PLANNED WITH MY TRAINER MY GOALS AND ASPIRATIONS. THEN PICKED THE REGIONAL SHOWS THAT WERE THE MOST COMPETITIVE WITH THE MOST NATIONAL JUDGES PRESENT AT THAT LEVEL.

BY COMPETITING AT THOSE COMPETITIVE REGIONAL SHOWS I COMPETED AGAINST THE TOP REGIONAL, FUTURE NATIONAL AND IFBB ATHLETES. ALSO BY COMPETITING IN FRONT OF NATIONAL JUDGES AT LARGE REGIONAL SHOWS, I WAS ABLE TO RECEIVE THEIR FEEDBACK TO BE A BETTER COMPETITOR IN THE REGIONALS AND ULTIMATELY THE NATIONAL LEVEL WHERE I CURRENTLY COMPETE.

HOPEFULLY THIS IS POSITIVE FEEDBACK FOR SOME OF YOU LADIES PLANNING TO COMPETE IN NATIONAL SHOWS SO YOU CAN GATHER ALL THE INFORMATION THAT YOU CAN WHILE STILL AT THE REGIONAL LEVELS.

THE MORE INFO YOU HAVE AT THE REGIONAL LEVEL, THE BETTER PREPARED AND COMPETITIVE YOU CAN BE!! YES?

First off, I just want to say congratulations to all the ladies who placed and also to all the ladies who did not. Everyone looked amazing and noone should be disappointed with anything.

I was actually surprised when I saw the score cards and I was placed 10th (although as it has been pointed out elsewhere there was a tie for 2nd which apparantly will move us all down a place, but I saw 10th and that is what I am sticking to!!!) top 10 in my first Pro-Qualifier was the goal I set for myself here and I made it! I will not lie, I was confused with the inconsistencies from class to class and I do know that some people were extremely unhappy, but it is what it is and there will always be disagreements in figure. I will say that I thought I was bringing the package the judges were looking for based on what they awarded in Pittsburgh and I went in heavier and fuller than I did at the AC but it wasnt what they were looking for this weekend. I am not at all upset though because I was in good company. Noone that placed in the top 5 at the AC placed in the top 5 here, so I was not alone. I liked how I looked and I will continue to bring what I have and either the judges will like it or they wont!

My experience was amazing and I had a fantastic time meeting all the ladies and making lots of new friends. I cant wait for Jr. Nationals so I can see you all again. I had so much fun and I am excited about Chicago. I hope that you all can share my enthusiasm even if you are disappointed about Jr. USA. Let's just keep repping for the figure athletes and keep our spirits high and our heads up!!! We are already among the elite by just training and showing up on stage!!!

Again, congratulations to EVERYONE!!!!!

Oh, and just to share what my highlight of the trip was...it had nothing to do with stepping on the stage... it was when Ann (Presshard) approached me on Friday evening and told my husband what an inspiration I was to her and how much she admired my physique! I was a bit humbled and somewhat embarassed by it at the time but I just want her to know how much that meant to me. It is times like that that make it all worth the effort in the end. Who cares about placings!!!! Well... unless it comes with the pro-card!!! LOL!!!

We won't even discuss my placing :banghead:.....Lol. I am definitely with you on the confused part. I won't say that my conditioning was the best at this show, and granted there are some things that "I" want to work on, but I don't see myself as being too muscular.....although, I have had a few people ask me if I thought about crossing over to BB (because of my arms)...... I dunno.? I am at a total loss of what to do now. I do not want to sacrifice any muscle, however I do want to work on my overall shape.

I did talk to one of the judges after the show to get an idea of what they are looking for. He said that they are looking for an overall toned shape with less muscle and no striations. They do not want us to over exaggerate our posing either..... that's why they kept getting on everyone to RELAX.

I have decided to just take some time now to figure out what direction I need to be headed.

Congrats, Tiffany.... you should be happy with 7th.... sure beats the heck out of last! Ha!

I did have a great time meeting all the girls from the board.... That was the best part! I felt like we all already knew each other. I had a wonderful experience and look forward to seeing you all in the future!

:eat:We won't even discuss my placing :banghead:.....Lol.

Thanks Lori, I am happy with 7th now just hungry, confused and dehydrated be for. Still wondering on how I need to look next time but I was told to lean out and I did,but hey who knows next time may need to be harder. I looked great and I gave it my all and I feel good about me and will adjust as needed. Too bad judges couldn't see me today, after all the crap Ihave eaten this week I am definately softer. All Over

Wow I saw your picture and you looked fabulous! I understand you being perplexed. :banghead:

I too just stumbled across this thread. I also competed at Jr. Usa's. Same as Bree for me this was the best I ever felt going into a show. I had a GREAT time there. Didn't get a chance to meet everyone though. I'm off to Jr. Nationals so maybe there.

Congrats, Tiffany.... you should be happy with 7th.... sure beats the heck out of last! Ha!

I did have a great time meeting all the girls from the board.... That was the best part! I felt like we all already knew each other. I had a wonderful experience and look forward to seeing you all in the future!

So I'm in the same boat as you two! I was not happy with how I placed. Ha! I didn't even place! LOL! Oh well, i'm still waiting to hear back from the judges, but I have an idea of what I need to do. And like Lori, I had some comments about crossing over to bodybuilding. Hmmmm....I think because that sport is dying and there are SOOOOOO many figure competitors, maybe that's why the judges are choosing a softer look?! After all Jennifer did win overall and she has a beautiful, feminine physique! Didn't she crossover?!

Anyway, the show itself was a GREAT experience and I enjoyed meeting some of you there and regret that I missed out on meeting the rest of you. This is an inspiring board and because I found it (just a week or so b4 the show) I at least knew a few people backsage. And that made it so much more enjoyable! I can't wait to see more of you in Atlanta and congratulations on all of your successess!

Jennifer indeed was a figure competitor a few years ago. I think we'll see many more crossover to bodybuilding, and maybe even fitness.

Thanks!
My daughter gave me that name she said at my iliac crest, that muscle made me look like a Barbie dolls legs and I was blonde and cute, but buff, so that is where Buffbarbie comes from. Girls at my gym call me that too.
I was in class B.
