You can have fruit.

The philosophy is the age old bodybuilding logic. Oh no, it has sugar so you can't eat it. Doesn't matter in all honesty. It's not like you'd be eating fruit every meal. Not to mention, it's also not like you'd be eating pounds of it at a time. Fruit is calorically sparse and nutrient dense.

We use fruit all the time. There is no reason to cut out entire food groups just to get lean - as evidenced by the people that get lean while still eating fruit.

Fat loss is all about calories first and foremost.

Basic set up

Set calories to an appropriate deficit
Set protein based on bodyweight or lean body weight
Ensure adequate EFA intake
The rest - carbs and fat - is the X factor that you can play with.

I agree! Fruit is beneficial! Rich in many vitamins, and if you choose wisely a good source of fiber and antioxidants. Love Strawberries, grapefruit, oranges, apples, pineapple to name a few favs! IMO opinion if you are worried about sugar content, best time of day to have them are early in the day or pre or post workout, and portion control is key. I love melon but it goes bad so fast if you are not eating large portions while dieting...but off season in the summer I can LIVE ON IT!

I agree though extreme dieting and cutting out any major food group is what causes a lot of people to become sensitive and gain easily IMO causing HUGE REBOUNDS... take away carbs for 3 to 4 months and then eat them and your body BLOWS UP... take away all fruit for three months and then gorge on it post contest and suddenly your body is very sensitive to it.

While I'm prepping for a contest I am given grapefruit and tangerines. Offseason I can eat blueberries, strawberries, peaches, pears, and apples. So don't be afraid! Eat your fruit!!

I use a ketogenic diet, so I do not include fruits in my prep, save for 1x/week when I may choose to have them.
