I have one. I would never use it to run though.

I got mine a few years ago from...

http://www.weightvest.com/

It kills my bad shoulder after 10 minutes or so.

I'm not sure it was a good investment for me.

Many people love them though. :)

I know a competitor who used one before she got with a trainer and just did her own thing and she was SHREDDED and has gigantic legs. Maybe a little too much so for figure. But give it a try and let us know how it works out for you.

I have been using one for the past 2 months. My legs/butt are harder then they have ever been and have more shape. I use 30lbs with I am on the elliptical or treadmill. (treadmill is at a high incline) and so far..only 20lbs when using the stepmill. (My heart rate gets too high when I try to go heavier) I have bad shoulders so I am building my way up to the 40lbs my vest can hold. My traps start to hurt at about the 25 min mark, but I keep it one for the full 45 min

I actually had to stop using it for a bit because my trainer said I was starting to drop weight too quickly and getting "stringy" looking on top, so I only use it about twice a week now.

Mine is an X-Vest

I used one before back in the day. Together with ankle weights. Then i used it to skip rope and do jumping and pseudo-plyometric drills. I wish I had kept it up. The good thing about that is I was able to develop my leaping ability that I could dunk tennis balls and when the time or feeling was right, dunk a volleyball. Dunking a volleyball was very inconsistent. missed far too many times than made it. If I never stopped then maybe I would be doing 360's.

Good question. I'm sure they have female vests and sizes too.

My vest is made for a female, and they come in small, medium, and large sizes. (Mine is a small) , and it is an over the head vest.(gets a little heavy lifting 30lbs up and over your head:angel:) You can pick from vests that hold up to 20lbs or 40lbs. The weights are 1 lbs bars that you add into the vest in slots on the front and back of the vest. I try to evenly distruibute the weight-front to back, for comfort and posture purposes. I can say that I am only 34B..so they do get alittle squished, but it really doesn't bother me. During TOM, it will, because of the water bloat, so it hurts a bit, but not enough to stop me from wearing it. The vest gets strapped on with velco ties around the waist, for me, I find ,the tighter I wear my vest, the more comfortable it is for me on my chest and my shoulders.

It really works well. Tiring when doing steep incline walking lunges too!!

This is a good thread, I've seen people at my gym using this before where can you find something like this?

I've tried using a backpack with weights in it but it just gets in the way and the weight isn't distributed equally which kinds sucks.

I just googled weighted vests/training vests and came up with a bunch of sites. Mine is an x-vest. forgot the link, but just google x-vest, you should pull it up. You can try fire training sites too. Firmen use these alot as well.

They have weighted vest at Walmart. There are two different kinds, 20lbs and 10 lbs. I think the one I have is by Danskin and it was $29.98 so it was cheaper than buying off a website:)
