Hi folks. I have a very serious question that I feel will pertain everyone not just Mo and I. The question is, what is the proper protocol to speak with judges after the show to get some feedback on how they saw you? Mo has competed in 5 shows, counting the recent Pittsburg show. The only time we have had an opportunity to actually speak with any judges was after her second show. She won the overall and had to stay until after the show to take pics with the other overall winners and some of the judges were still there and she was able to talk with them. But now that she and most everyone else here are competing at a national level along with 250 other competitors how does one go about getting to the judges?

I hope I am making sense here. Is there an accepted protocol that you should follow? Do you need to let them know before the show that you would like some feedback? ???????

Anyone with any info or experience please feel free to wade in here and hopefully clear the air for alot of people. Heidi Bagwell is one of the judges that Mo got to talk with after her second show and she was extremely nice and offered some great advice. So Heidi if you see this I would love to get your perspective on this. Thanks in advance!!!!

See everyone this weekend.

!!! GO MO !!!

No, there is no official "protocol". Just be friendly and respectful. Don't go up to them and say "my 3rd place was bullshit, I had better symmetry and conditioning than #1, etc...".

Typically judges at ALL levels, from local natural shows, up to IFBB Pro, all love to give out constructive feedback to competitors who are genuinely concerned with how to improve.

Jim, this is a great place for feedback ... the bar at the Embassy is open and in the center of the floor, everyone hangs out ... it's a great crowd. The judges are there and we've had meaningful conversations in past year, regarding our competitors. We look forward to meeting you guys in a few ....

Here is Colorado, all of our judges stay at least an hour after the show to give competitors critique and feedback.

In regards to National level shows. I heard first hand from Jim Rockell (NPC VP) that the judges will not and cannot remember every single competitor. They do not take notes. So what he suggests is that you approach him (he said you can do this) before the show begins and tell him what class you are competing in and what your number is. He said he will make sure that he takes some notes on you. I have also heard that some of the other national level judges will do the same.

Jim,
Last year at the USA's they asked if anyone would like notes taken on them for feedback to leave there name and contestant number with there contact information on a list that the expeditor had. I have also seen Sandy Ranalli and Linda Hoyt have all the girls come back at a certain time during intermission or after the show and it is first come first serve at that point. Just have Mo ask at the athletes meeting how the panel would like it addressed...:p...And congrats to her on her finish!!
