The hyatt said there was a shuttle from the airport - so I am not going to rent a car - since everything is at the hotel I don't think I will need one. I hope your prep for the Jr USAs is going great - just one more week! You look awesome! Heather

From May 6:

I am going strong into the 2008 season with a little under 7 weeks to
go. Just wanted to update everyone on my progress. At this point I am
at 11% BF and 133lb. I plan to step on stage around 124-125lb at
around 6% bf which is 6lb more than last year at same or better
condition. I have worked on putting width in my back for a better V
taper, better caps on my shoulders and stronger glute/ham tie ins and
am happy with my progress so far. Am seeing vascularity in my arms,
back, obliques, and calves at this point. I'll update again in a few
weeks:)

From May 12:

Yea! I've dropped 1% bodyfat this week..lost 1 lb of fat and gained 1
lb of muscle while cutting. Weight is 132lb -Pretty exciting for me:)
So now 10% and shooting for 6-7% 6 weeks to go...

I don't think we met but I watched you on stage. You looked great~ I tried to watch al the SC girls. Even if it was from the side. I didn't make it to the SC picture. But we'll have to catch up this time!

As for the height classes. I don't have to worry. At 5 ft I think I'll be safe :) But I know for a fact that girls have been measure incorrectly in the past. Some of the girls in my class should have been in B all along but they let it slide by if it was just a tad bit over. So I think this time they measured correctly. B/c my class last year had about 32 girls and this year there were only 9. I know alot of girls were unhappy being put in a new class but what does it matter? Competing is competing. Who cares who you go against. Just my 2 cents~ I'm sure next year (from what they said back stage) it'll all change again!

From May 6:

I am going strong into the 2008 season with a little under 7 weeks to
go. Just wanted to update everyone on my progress. At this point I am
at 11% BF and 133lb. I plan to step on stage around 124-125lb at
around 6% bf which is 6lb more than last year at same or better
condition. I have worked on putting width in my back for a better V
taper, better caps on my shoulders and stronger glute/ham tie ins and
am happy with my progress so far. Am seeing vascularity in my arms,
back, obliques, and calves at this point. I'll update again in a few
weeks:)

From May 12:

Yea! I've dropped 1% bodyfat this week..lost 1 lb of fat and gained 1
lb of muscle while cutting. Weight is 132lb -Pretty exciting for me:)
So now 10% and shooting for 6-7% 6 weeks to go...

Looks like the new height class only benefited the shorties (Class a & b) and the tallest class....all the others were still very large!! I guess the good thing is you won't be able to grow or shrink anymore...they said the height card is good for 2 years.

Just an update on Justine Dohring. Based on what I saw in the gym this morning she is spot on and based on the #'s has put on 3-5 lbs of mass over last year. I also got a preview of her night posing suit and you will NOT be able to miss her onstage! :)

Also, I received some pictures of Colleen Mahony and it looks like she is coming in bigger and tighter than last year and should be in the running for a top placing.

Best wishes for all the female bodybuilders this year at Jr Nats!!!

I agree, thats alot of time for prejudging. But I understand that this has become a business for the promoters. They need these types of numbers to make the event such a succss as well as being able to make it worth their time. Im not certain how much the venue cost, how much of that money goes to the NPC, the judges cost, the travel expense, and Im sure the list goes on and on. But to have nearly 200 figure girls at $100 per registration fee really helps the bottome line. What is sad about this though is the many, many ticket sales that the promoters are losing here. I myself would have atleast 4 extra faminly and friends in the audience for both pre-judging and finals paying for prem. tickets if they did not want to spend an entire day and a half watching 18 hours of bodybuilding. Ah, and then you have people taking notes on how our sport actually helps the economy at these national shows. More spectators means more money being spent around venue sites and on travel. But this cant happen if they never go.... So my advice would be - make it harder for figure to qualify for nationals and up the registration fee if the promoters are counting on that money. Maybe make it to where these national qualifying shows only allow the 1st in each class to be able to qualify in figure.

It would make it much better for everyone on that stage. I feel for those judges as they are sitting down for so many hours looking at what sometimes may look like the same thing over and over again. Could you imagine being in those chairs for such a long time? The female, and male bodybuilders will be able to prep in order to know exactly when they will be getting on stage to look their best, the fitness girls will be able to get prepped in order to avoid those crazy injuries due to sitting for hours before being asked to do stunts, and the many, many figure competitiors that go un-noticed by the judges because they are standing next to 40 other girls at one time.

There are a number of women that are not going to be competing at JR Nationals that are on some of the lists. Like Figure A Class winner - Jamie Costa will not be competing in Chicago.

One woman to watch in the fitness tall class is Jo Marriner - she wowed the crowd with her routine at Nationals and look for her to win the routine round in the tall class. If she's brought up her physique she will be in the running for her pro card.

Veronica Miller made a name for herself at this show last year and will look to do the same again. Catherine Holland won her class at JR USAs and will be a top contender again at this show.

My preview should be on bodybuilding.com tomorrow where a number of women could be in the mix.

Just talked to Liza Kampstra in figure B - last show was the USA's in 2007. She has great genetics but needed some quality, not quantity but quality muscle. She took the year off and is here in much better shape than last year. "I put on some size on my upper body, my muscle looks more mature this year". Short and sweet but we will see this afternoon how it pans out for her on stage. She has awesome genetics and if she has made these improvements she could challenge for a top spot.Jacquie Skibba, another Denver Performance Ready girl and she has made a huge difference in her physique since last year at the USA's. She is a lot leaner, started contest prep back in january so she could be in shape and not lose all her muscle. It worked, she is 3-5 lbs heavier and leaner than the USA's last year. Gorgeous girl, she can model and has the body to challenge for a top spot here in the C class.Jenny Lewis was a standout in Charleston at the JR USA but compared to the rest of the less muscled field, she looked too blocky. Jenny would have done better in a pro lineup than there as she was in a class of her own. This is a much much tougher show, she is 3 lbs lighter and sleeker and she certainly has potential to challenge for a top spot. All three of these girls are from Carla Sanchez Performance Ready Team. She develops them slower but after they turn pro all three of these girls can still look good enought to model. Expect these three to be at or near the top.
