I look at each othe these ladies and think they have amazing physiques - some could even cross over to figure, but they chose bikini.... I really like the look of bikini and can't wait to see who the judges pick for top spots tomorrow!

Not sure what the IFBB has said being that this is the 1st Pro show. On the NPC side it was highly recommended to wear an off the rack suit that looked best for your physique...a few peeps had passion fruit bikini's last year, but majority of competitors wore off rack suits.

Yeah I think a lot of it is genetic. You know how it is...some people put muscle on pretty easily. She lost 10 lbs for this show so perhaps she'll have to go back to the drawing board, although I love her physique too! I also like Sonia with a little more meat on her legs like this. I don't think her waist looks bad. I think she looks good.

Yeah I agree. Those are some awesome looking butts though for sure. I think Natalie's lower half is just a little skinny looking, but she has a long-looking frame so it's understandable. She pulls off the white/cream very nicely though!

I think the judges generally like Monique and I think they're more inclined to reward someone like her who has a softer look. If they reward someone too hard looking, it sends the wrong message and all a sudden the girls will all start getting harder looking and it becomes figure. I'm still blown away by Alea's presentation though. Her skin and makeup look perfect, she's got muscle but she's not too too lean anywhere, has curves, very proportionate, and impeccable stage presence.

Leigh had her suit made by CJ - who claimed to have sat down with the judges, even made a video on what the cuts should be and how the suits should be for bikini.... guess not one else got that memo!!! In amateurs I agree with off the rack, but for the pros I want BLING!

Stacy will have a hard time not coming in lean on her upper 1/2 b/c of her legs...I too would like 2c her in figure.

My 2 cents. That suit isn't doing it for Leigh....I think the girls look much better in an off rack suit that accentuates their individual physique. IMO - her suit looks like a figure suit w/ the exception of it not criss/crossing in the back.

I would have been happy 2c Sherlyn in the Top 6 as well....Monique does look a bit soft...I think most got use to seeing her Top 5 figure physique from '08.

CJ told us that this would be the norm - she would make it amazing and it was what the judges and her discussed as being the look for bikini pros....................... Yes, I've seen 2 PF suits for bikini...one was the Ed Hardy look and the other was just a different design. But the cut was way different than your normal figure suit.

I absolutely love Stacy's look, but I agree she is too lean for bikini, & her legs look too muscular IMO. I actually would have liked to have seen her keep the 10 lbs of muscle & try her hand at figure! She is married to the Texas NPC chairman & I remember seeing her in person at a show I did in TX last year. She is gorgeous & has those full muscle bellies I would love to have!

CJ is good people, Kayde and I will both vouch for her. Kayde only told part of the story of how CJ helped her out at the Arnold (she posted a thread in the Arnold forum about it). Trust me, CJ is the real deal. As Kenyatta said, she's no spring chicken. She's been in the industry longer than most of us can imagine (as an IFBB Pro, an official, and a suit/costume designer) and she knows her stuff. She is not the type to bs just to make a buck. I'm sure she has talked with the judges and found out which way they want the suits to go. That doesn't mean that word has gotten around to everyone yet. Pro Bikini is very new (this is the second show, right?). Give it a little time and see which direction the suits head in. We might find that CJ's suits will set the Pro standard.

That's really discouraging.....yes, all in the 1st callout look great!! Although many of us pointed out that we were big fans of Stacy she is way too muscular for bikini! And for Alea to not even make Top 5 just doesn't make any sense when you compare her physique to everyon in the Top 5 except for Stacy.

Now it looks like there won't be much division on the pro level between the two divisions....if Stacy is 4th, I'd like to know where Zhanna ended up....she and STacy's physiques, especially the lower half looked very similar.

No disrespect to CJ either since we've known each other forever, but the whole idea for NPC & IFBB Bikini was NOT to have blinged out, custom made suits worn on stage. It even states as much in the rules;

Note this section;

Competitors will compete in a two-piece suit. The bottom of the suit must be v-shaped. No thongs are permitted. Competitors can compete in an off the rack suit. All swimsuits must be in good taste.

Unless CJ spoke with either my father or Sandy Williamson about the suits, then it doesn't matter what anybody else said. I know from speaking to both of them numerous times that they do not want to see the Bikini competitors paying an arm & a leg for their bikini's & feel there are plenty of other options.

I remember walking out of the 2009 NPC Jr. Nationals with Sandy when she approached Bikini Overall winner Marzia Prince & told Marzia her Ed Hardy bikini was perfect for her & not to change it when she competes in the IFBB in 2010. Both Isaac & I have stated over & over again how the "scrunchie butt" suits have pretty much become the norm in Bikini & look the best on the competitors.

Last thing - I found out Alea Suarez was 6th & Dianna Dahlgren was 7th. Other than that I don't know the remainder of the placings.

As much as I hate the whole idea of bikini class (which I still do), could someone tell me, what is the thing they compare? I mean bikini is now part of sport federation, part of NPC and even at PRO level , in IFBB. What is the whole point? Look at the winner, look at the last placer, runner up, 6th and 9th? Clothing contest? Boob contest? Fullest lips contest? Whats the things they compare with these girls? This is exactly why I dont like bikini. It seems not to about who is best in physique wise. Even though sometimes judging sucks too in bodybuilding (sometimes) but even more in figure, there is SOMETHING we can think u gotta be better - conditioning, lines, x-frame, balance, harmony, structure, symmetry. Even though I did not like Nicole winning Figure International as she was super tiny and soft, I found something she was better at - good lines, balance, sturcture... but here... I cant find a reason someone is better.

Btw A good reminder of how little they require muscle development in Pro Figure nowadays. Sherlyn Roy who just competed in figure, is TINY (well she has always been tiny in figure as well although like at Kentucky show looked quite good) and even if she obsivously is now softer than in figure, the other girls are way bigger here. And its not so long time ago this girl competed at Figure INt!


And besides, how to COMPARE PHYSIQUES if they all stand there very different way? How to compare upper body when the hair of these girls cover half of their bodies? Seriously, how u compare them? Or wait, forgot, its not about physiques, right?

Yes, I am bikini hater, dedicated, passioned bikini-hater. And this is the reason why. Hell yes those girls are pretty but at the point they are taken to be part of professional sport league, there should be some point you need to be better at. And if there is nothing clear ... it is same thing like decide the law suits with lottery. And how fair is that? You just pick something and then just "its about the total package". One very common term "total package" does not justice to pick winners without good reasons. Total package includes many things you should compare, not just to justify bad decision with it. Think about figure skating. It is there also about total package, but all of its parts are judged and compared really well actually.

It is awesome that also such a bad ideas get some hype and support from the people who are involved with the sport. Its nice they are loyal. But if you seriously, if you SERIOUSLY look at this this bikini contest, dont u agree that this needs ...

- clear criteria which needs to be followed?
- Rules which make sure that these girls and their physiques can be even compared and judged - same kind of posing, not hair covering 75% of the bodies?

Well, I guess its good thing the girls have a nice hobby to spend time with. But I still dont think NPC/IFBB is right place for such.

Butt out, legs spread and looking over the shoulder with a semi-come hither look... yeah no wonder some people are calling it a T & A show. LOL, fat chance that is going to happen! There will never be clear criteria for this kind of contest because there really can't be... which is the beauty for judging because they can pick winners for whatever reason they choose.
However I will say that I have been keeping up with who placed where at this show, and even had some opinions, so maybe I am selling out already. ;)
I actually like Sonia better in bikini. I don't know that I would've put her first, but she looked great. Oh, and I would love to see Stacey put on some more muscle and move to figure. Great booty on that girl, and cut arms, she wouldn't have too far to go!

Yes, it IS frustrating for the competitors. But when you have all these women who look great--each in their own way--it IS hard to judge between the different body types.

I think bikini is GREAT for our sport--as many women do not aspire to the level of muscularity that I & the figure girls do. I am definitely a muscle head---the more the better for me! Yet they workout & diet JUST as hard, & are definitely more accepted by the mainstream as role models the average woman can aspire to. Maybe if the average woman can be inspired by the 'bikini' level of fitness models, & start to work out, they will eventually catch the 'muscle bug' & learn to appreciate the lean, muscular look that we do!

An example--I was doing a demo for a product in Whole Foods a couple of months ago. I had one of my figure competition pictures up on the demo table. I offered an older lady a sample, & she pointed at my picture & said "No, thanks. No way I would want to look like HER!" :rofl: I just said, "Yeah, I don't blame you!" :D She would definitely like the bikini look better! Haha!

My dearest friend is working SO hard to get ready to compete in bikini. Her program is every bit as intense & hard as mine is for figure--except she gets to eat a lot more carbs! :drool3:

These women work very, very hard, & they all looked great on stage. May they inspire the average woman to pick up a set of 'non-pink' dumbbells & increase their level of fitness!

That's genetic for Sonia I believe. She's always had to watch her lower abdomen when competing. You started to see it a little when she competed with a softer look in figure.

No I totally get what you're saying. It's something I've noticed on her. She didn't have it when she first came on to the scene when she won her pro card and then won like 3 shows in the same year. She was much leaner and tighter then, back when they rewarded harder physiques.

I have to agree. I competed in the open bikini in this show. I was sort of embarrased by some of the girls poses (boarderline striptease). I also have to say that even though they did try to enforce no thongs by having us bring our suits to check in, it didn't work. Also, I was under the impression that shoes had to be under 1'' in front. Am I wrong? Anyways, it was a fun show, but I feel like to win you can not play by the rules, and physique is not as important as the "show" you put on on stage.

On another note, I drove from the Riverside Area just to go to this show and see the physiques in person. I saw this as a motivator for me to do well in the gym. But not to compete (at least not now) but for my wedding on April 10th. I think the girls are gorgeous but I am also confused on what the judges were looking for. I guess we will have to wait for the next bikini contest and see what happens.

IMO I think something that would really help with the bikini competition is having a set standard on the poses.... like we have in Figure. When the girls have the license to pose, really any way they like, it's close to impossible to compare the physiques against each other. I think bikini does hold a great place in this organization, it just needs to have a bit more structure. Maybe then it would be easier for us to see what the judges are seeing!
