So I'm prepping for my first competition in June, and am wondering how it all works. It's an NPC show. When we're hanging out backstage for our group to be up, can we have someone back there with us (my husband)? Where do we go to change into our other suit? I'm really hoping that my husband will be able to be back there with me to help me glue myself in! Is there usually a one-piece and two-piece round at both the prejudging and finals (or is this very individual to each event)? Do prejudging and finals pretty much go the same way (calling each competitor individually, then lining up for comparisons)? I'm very new to all of this, and I want to be sure that I'm properly prepared!! A run down of how it all usually goes down would be extremely helpful!
Thanks!

NO, NO HUBBY'S ALLOWED BACKSTAGE. THERE ARE A LOT OF LOGICAL REASONS WHY.
LIABILITY WHETHER HE IS A REGISTERED MEMBER OF THE NPC OR NOT.
SO MANY PEOPLE RUNNING AROUND BACK THERE. PEOPLE ORGANIZATION IS KEY.
ALSO, THE OTHER LADIES ARE GETTING CHANGED IN THE SAME ROOM SO IT'S NOT APPROPRIATE. THE MAIN ROOM(S) WHERE THE COMPETITORS ARE CONGREGATED HAVE MULTIPLE FUNCTIONS. MAKE UP/HAIR, POSING PRACTICE, OIL UP, CHANGING, SLEEPING/RESTING, ETC. THERES LITTLE ROOM & LOTS OF TIGHT SPOTS. COMPETITORS ARE IN CLOSE CONFINES BACKSTAGE.
LOTS OF TIME TO TALK TO HIM ON THE PHONE& TEXT THOUGH.

IF IT IS YOUR FIRST COMPETITION, JUST ASK ONE OF THE COMPETITORS FOR HELP. THEY WILL HELP. YOU GET STUCK BACK THERE WITH SO MUCH DOWNTIME THAT YOU START TALKING TO PEOPLE. ITS NO PROBLEM TO ASK FOR HELP.

Check with the promoter as some shows they do allow ONE trainer (or hubby) backstage with a "trainer name tag" but I say get used to doing it on your own and interacting with others only because most bigger shows they do not allow anyone backstage.

yeah all the shows i have done i have allowed to have one person backstage with me...and its usually Nick.
So maybe this doesnt apply to all shows...but all the ones i have done it has.
you always do 1 and 2 pc for prej b/ thats when they are judging you.
They usually have allocated placed to get changed.... sometimes a bathroom, sometimes just a giel section where you all can change get ready, do makeup, etc...
hope this helps!! they usually run you through the whole thing in the competitors meeting so you wont feel lost!

My boyfriend has been with me in the pump up room my shows to touch up my color and glue me in. There is sometimes an extra fee for him to get access to the competitor's area. Though not 'backstage' as in in the wings, it is where you go to pump up and do the last minute primping. It usually smells like tanning spray, protein farts and armpits - he'll love it! :dvsness:

It really depends on the promoter, I have seen some shows that were VERY strict with letting people backstage unless they had a pass (1 per competitor) and others that are very leniant. Either way your hubby will most likely not be allowed in the "changing area" but he will be able to help you in any other area backstage like Vanessa said.

In all the shows I've done, 1 "trainer" regardless of who it is is allowed backstage.....in 1 show they were allowed in the changing area and some girls had a male trainer.....after dieting down for so long no one cared, but most of the time I've changed in a room and had my hubby glue me in in the hallway behind the stage.....then touch up my oil out back or in the same hallway....
Then it's pretty much stand around & wait your turn to go out......
